LF: Electric kettle parts

Post by Maritimer » Wed Dec 10, 2014 11:43 am

I'm starting to source parts for my electric kettle build, before I order over seas I thought I'd reach out everyone here.
5 gallon ebiab set up with 15 gallon Dave pot

looking for pretty much everything, but most importantly...

1. 10 ga. wiring, 15 feet or so
2. dryer cord
3. element, 220V 4000-5500 watt
4. scr controller (simple dial controller)

I have no brewing set up right now and the kegs are draining :o. I'm looking to reduce the lead time on shipping, the controller is about the only thing that could take a millennia to ship, if anyone has one they are not using I'd gladly order a replacement for them (same goes for spare elements).

I had asked Dave to source The all stainless elements.

You may want to do a Group Buy to save on shipping.

I'm trying to get in touch with a Camco rep to bring elements into the store. Hopefully I'll know more in the next day or two.

Thanks

Dave

stainless elements might be worthwhile to bring in store. Can't see it being worth while to compete against amazon. Unless of course your planning on selling electric kits, then you could be onto something...

So here's an update. The new stainless elements have not yet been released to distributors by Camco, it should happen soon but not quite yet. That one Sandy showed me is a off-brand. These new elements were designed by Camco specifically for the home brew market and the difference is that the bushing is stainless and will not rust in the kettle. They will have both 4500W and 5500W in foldback or ripple ULWD elements and after talking to them I'd recommend the ripple as the watts per square inch are lower and therefore will last a lot longer.

I'll definitely be getting them in as soon as they are released, and as far as Amazon is concerned, as a retailer I might have a hard time competing, but if I'm the main Canadian distributor then I should be ok ;)
