16 Gal Bayou Classic Pot (Sold)

Post by GuingesRock » Tue Oct 07, 2014 5:30 am

I have two of these. One I have modified as an all-in-one. The other one I kept in case I wanted to modify it, but I don't seem to need it or to have got around to it, so It's just taking up space in my beer room. This is where I got it from and details: http://ihomebrewing.ca/16-gal-stainless ... h-tun.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's in perfect shape, just a bit dusty in the pic. I'll clean it. High quality sturdy pot. A nice feature is they also have volume markings on the inside wall. You an just make them out in the second pic, or if you look here at the 8 gal model online there's a pic of the markings for the 8 gal version: http://ihomebrewing.ca/8-gal-stainless- ... h-tun.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

$200?

I'd love to have this, but the warden would ship me off to solitary immediately (yes, that is a sex joke)

I keep looking at these Italian Kegs on OBK and I want some badly, two actually maybe three http://www.ontariobeerkegs.com/5_Gallon ... handle.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I can't justify the cost ... but then I can :D if I sell stuff I've been hoarding and not using. There's also very little floor space in my beer room with all the stuff in there. ...there I justified it ...easy as that.

What are the differences between the normal kegs and the Italian ones (other than how shiny they are, manufacturing location, and used vs. new)? Do you have any of the Italian ones already?

I have one, and had it for a year or longer. Got it when they were around $100 at OBK, they had a special on. I love it. You can't take the poppets out, but I never do. They are "clean in place' They should last a lifetime, a lifetime free of frustrations, also aesthetically pleasing. Like being a wine maker and having nice oak barrels to put your wine in. Noble grape has kegs by same manufacturer but with single metal handle rather than rubber top handles, otherwise exactly the same. I've had one of those as well for 2 years.

• 304 Stainless Steel
• NSF Approved for beverage use
• ISO 9000
• MAA Approval by Coca Cola
• Manufactured by AEB since 1989 (over 23 years!)
• Manual pull-ring relief valve that also automatically vents at 130 psi
• Features the classic dual rubber carry handles for extended handle life
• Serial numbers on each part with sanitary welds
• 25" tall x 8.5" wide
• Important notice: The keg posts are "clean in place". Removing posts voids the warranty.

So what makes them CIP? I feel like they should still be removed (despite the warranty note) to clean, unless they are manufactured in a different way than others typically are.

You can't get them out, although I read on some forum that you can by using a dental pick and hooking behind each leg individually. I run cleaner sanitizer through them, just like the dip tubes really, you can't get inside them either. The legs snap outwards above a ridge inside the post, so they are made differently. The ridge holds them in place inside the post.
