Fredericton Craft Beer Festival - March 8, 2014

Post by LeafMan66_67 » Sat Jan 25, 2014 11:19 am

Is anyone heading to the Fredericton Craft Beer Festival? My wife is suggesting we go this year. Who am I to argue? :mebeer: She was able to grab one VIP ticket and one regular ticket. If anyone is heading there from our of town, any suggestions on where to stay?

Thanks

At least a dozen Brewnosers going, myself and EZ included. We're staying at the Crowne Plaza, literally right across the street from the venue, and with 3min walk to King Street Ale House, or Lunar Rogue. 5min more to Picaroons Brewtique.

Some smart, handsome, blogger (I think it was berley) posted the link to a preferred rate at CP: $109+tax for either one king bed or two queens. I just checked, and they still have availability for Fri and Sat night.

https://resweb.passkey.com/Resweb.do?mo ... n=26787945" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

(in case it needs to be said, we get no kickback or benefit from that link, just sharing the beer love, like always!)

ps. Yay! I know we'll have a good time. Last year's was very well run, and this year will see even more breweries there, including ... HAMMOND RIVER!! Also of note will be brand new Red Rover Cider, Railcar Brewing (we really, really hope), and new favourites Boxing Rock, Bridge and The Big Man from Big Spruce.

I will be there as well and staying at the Crowne Plaza, if anybody is heading out for some food in the afternoon I would love to meet up. Given the posted brewery line-up, a strong food base is probably a good pre-festival idea.

Will definitely going out for food before, either lunar rogue or King Street ale house.
Also will plan on having a few beers in the hotel room after the fest.

How do you get on that list?
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

There was a drop down list to be added to a wait list for VIP but it's not there anymore (Virginia handled the whole thing so I didn't see it) . Looks like they may have added her to the wrong wait list for the second VIP ticket, so we are still 1 general, 1 VIP.

I was looking at the list of brews a day or two ago. Looks good. I must say, I'm pretty stoked to go eat some good grub, take home what good brews I can, drink all I can at the fest, and have a general good time with all of us planning on going & staying at the CP.

Was just going to check on this thread and weigh in: looking forward to the fest quite a bit too! As many of us are staying at the CP, we might try and keep the party going after in someone's room, so maybe bring a bottle or two to share? New members/friends are welcome, be sure to post your intentions here so we know to look out for you.

Folks from away: if you have requests for Brewnosers glassware (from this thread) or stickers (from this thread), warn me and I will bring some with me. Likewise if you have requests from Premier, NSLC, Garrison, Propeller, Bridge, etc.

I need ALL requests in by Thursday at noon so I can act on them.

What are the chances of a few bottles falling off the truck between Amherst and Sackville?

To be a little different, and to bring something probably nobody's had, I picked up a bottle of the new hard cider from Arlington Orchards on PEI.

Sadly I will not be making it to this....wish I had seen it earlier while tickets were still available.

But is anyone that is attending going to be in the general area of Daves shop between now and then? Am placing an order from him this week for about 30lbs worth of stuff, if I could have it find its way to PEI with out paying canadapost it would be ideal.

Denis: yes, actually, I was just chatting with Dave, and believe I could help get it to Fredericton. After that, it'll need to be handed off to someone else.
