All Grain Brew Session - Teach a friend

Post by LiverDance » Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:33 am

Hey everyone, Chalmers and I will be hosting an all grain brew session this satruday at my place in spryfield. We've seen alot of people saying they would like to see a session in action before trying all grain themselves so we are going to give it a shot. I know we have tried this before with some success so I figured why not do it again, we plan to start at 10am and will be doing a IIPA to serve at Hoptoberfest. You don't really need to bring anything, maybe a snack or 2 if you'll get hungry as the session will probably run about 5 hrs. Please post up if you're interested. Looking forward it. :cheers3:
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I wouldn't say no to someone who wanted to bring their homebrew looking to share and/or get feedback on it. :)

I've warned the gangs to stay away, so no need for flak jackets Saturday. Just don't wear red. We are a strictly Crip area.

What about people who already have brewed all-grain many times?

Cool - I may pop over for an hour or two in the early afternoon. I have a beer to get some opinions on as well (RB spruce trial).

I'll probably be able to drop by at least for a while. I think LD still has some beer for me from the last time I brewed with you guys.

I'm gonna plan to swing by for a few minutes in the morning to say hey to the team.

Naturally, I'll be attending in my official capacity as the assistant to the traveling secretary of the Cole Harbour Chapter of the Crips. Word.

I grew up in Spryfield, but now I live in Cole Harbour, so I'm not sure which crip faction currently has my loyalty. So I may have to skip. I don't want to endanger the team.

while I've taken a crack at all grain on a small scale a couple of times and otherwise do partial mashes, I know I have plenty to learn though so I might drop by too.

The address is Feruz, We will be brewing from 10 till 3pm. :welcome:

For anyone who is coming over, use the gate at the side of the house to get in the back yard, that's where we will be. I'm trying to avoid using the front door and doorbell so my dog doesn't go nuts. :spilly:

Thanks for hosting - wish I could have stayed longer but my brewing assistant always gets bored during the mash! Bacon is on the smoker now though and cold beer in hand!

Thanks to everyone who came out it was a good brew day! We finished with 35l of 1.082 sort. We jammed 900g of mixed north American stylenhops in there and saved 100g for dry hop. Everyone will get a chance to sample at hoptoberfest. Special thanks to Chalmers and Stu for staying through the entire brew spilly: Great Day :headbang:

Great day! A few new faces, some excellent homebrew was brought and tasted, and yeast was distributed.
