Spring Lagerfest
Now that Ryefest has passed and we have a date for Big Strange Brew it's time to decide on Spring Lagerfest. A weekend in mid to late May sounds good to me. Long weekend or not?

Re: Spring Lagerfest
I'm in for whenever..Mid Summer sounds ideal to me, that is unless we are having a Spring event AND a Summer event.

Re: Spring Lagerfest
There always seems to be plenty of summer events, last minute or planned semi in advance. I like the idea of a spring event.
I'd prefer weekend before long weekend (12/13) but that is just me.

This sounds great... I'd be in if it's not between the 23rd and 30th(I'll be out of town). Would Alesners be considered a lager?

Re: Spring Lagerfest
Was just going to post something for May 7th, as it is National (US, but we can do it too) Homebrew Day. http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/p ... mebrew-day" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
We really should have an event on that day (or the 4th or 5th, the Friday or Saturday prior), and hopefully incorporate a brew of some sort.
Having said all that, I'll be on my way to Philly either Sat or Sun for a couple of weeks.

I think that sounds like a great idea. I could take my brewing equipment anywhere with a hose.chalmers wrote:Was just going to post something for May 7th, as it is National (US, but we can do it too) Homebrew Day. http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/p ... mebrew-day" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm looking at that date myself. What's everyone think - let's hear it so we can get our ducks in a row.TimG wrote:There always seems to be plenty of summer events, last minute or planned semi in advance. I like the idea of a spring event.

We could do it the same day as the Bluenose marathon and call it the Brewnose Marathon.

I can't make the 12th (camping) but maybe the 13th if not too hung over.

I'm in for the 12th
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

The only issue with that weekend is that it's coming up fast considering that we haven't done any planning.

Re: Spring Lagerfest
True.. but picking the date seems to be the toughest part in the planning. Are we thinking something similar to the Rye Tasting but just random homebrews instead? Maybe a couple of people brewing a beer as well?

Yeah on bring random lagers. The other issue is location. Might be too quick to do at my place again.TimG wrote:True.. but picking the date seems to be the toughest part in the planning. That's: head East until you think you're about to run out of Highway, turn right, and drive till you fall off the cliff.
It's only an hour East of Halifax
