I'm sending this one out early to gauge interest in a crazy idea I've got, so bear with me:
At January's meeting in the Darkside, we probably had our best female turnout in recent memory at a regular meeting: 3. Which is great, but also kinda sad. So, because there are plenty of our wives/significant others who wonder what the heck we do every fourth Tuesday, or just think drinking beer is stupid, I propose we invite our partners to this meeting as well. I'm sure most of them would be a little more interested if they knew they wouldn't be the only women there, so if the beer talk turned stale, they'd have another friendly person to speak with.
Would y'all be at least willing to float that by your partners? And maybe this isn't the month to do it, because the second Tuesday is Valentine's Day, but I would love to see more women out in general.
Or, on the other hand, if you guys can't wait to get out of the house so you can booze your sorrows away, then I will let this idea die. At least you're doing it with good beer.

February 21st (not 14th) - Halifax Monthly Meeting
OK, ignore below for now, maybe we'll do a "ladies night" another month. For now, let's concentrate on our rescheduled Feb meeting, Feb.21.

Re: [Meeting] February 14th - Halifax Monthly Meeting
I can't make the Feb meeting, but I have to say, Valentines Day seems like one of the worst days imaginable for a Brewnosers meeting....
But the idea of women isn't bad though.

I haven't been to one of these meetings yet, though I would like to...
I just want to look out for you guys to point out that Feb 14 is Valentine's day, so I will have to excuse myself from that meeting... I enjoy my nuts to much

Yeah, not the best night to go drink beer with the guys. Maybe we could have a rare re-scheduling for this one?

I think that's in everyone's best interests. We could do an extended brunch after the grain order on the 11th...

Feb. 11 brunch works for me. I didn't order anything, but I've been meaning to make a meeting and Feb. 14 is not an option.

I'll float it, but that day is typically the CAPSAC wine tasting - there's no way Marta's trading wine for beer.chalmers wrote:Would y'all be at least willing to float that by your partners? Re: [Meeting] February 14th - Halifax Monthly Meeting
I knew VD might be a bad idea for it, but wanted to make sure I got the idea out there for people to at least ask partners if they had an interest. Thanks very much to those who did/will. Maybe we could do it March?
As for a different day for the meeting, that seems reasonable to me. I've already got people coming over for a party Feb 11th, but if folks want to bring over some good beer, we could do an impromptu meeting as well.

Would love to make it out for my inaugural meeting, but the 14th is out for sure.

VD is an unfortunate abbreviation for Valentine's Day.chalmers wrote:I knew VD might be a bad idea for it...
I think the grain pickup is on that day so we already have an informal meeting that day (not that I'd turn down your invitation; thanks for offering).chalmers wrote:I've already got people coming over for a party Feb 11th, but if folks want to bring over some good beer, we could do an impromptu meeting as well.

I'm out of town for the 14th so I'm glad there is talk of a reschedule of the February meeting. I think an afternoon meeting on the 11th after the grain buy pickup would work nicely. Good way to get the grain buy folks out to a meeting and maybe some folks that find it tough to get out on a weeknight.
If that isn't popular.. what about the following Tuesday?

There is also the official brewnoser Superbowl party at RB on the 5th. I think if I make anything it will be that. We can't do a tasting, but I'm sure NASH will keep our tastebuds in bliss.

Re: [Meeting] February 14th - Halifax Monthly Meeting
That`s why I mentioned it, as people might still be in the mood after brunch to come over later for a few more beers. However, I don't think it'll be possible for us to go straight from the brunch into tasting mode (at my place, at least).KMcK wrote: I think the grain pickup is on that day so we already have an informal meeting that day (not that I'd turn down your invitation; thanks for offering).

So, did you meet up on the 11th, or are we trying for the 21st?TimG wrote:I'm out of town for the 14th so I'm glad there is talk of a reschedule of the February meeting. I actually brought back beer from Miami this time. Cigar City Jai Alai.

I'm not sure what eveyone's feelings were about rescheduling. I'll let the rest of you decide that as I'm working Tuesdays through the end of the month.

I'm okay with rescheduling. We've got enough new people itching to come out to a meeting that we shouldn't miss a month. I believe that Tim wants to share some from his travels so we should defer to his availability.

Re: [Meeting] February 14th - Halifax Monthly Meeting
There was a very strong turnout out at Rock Bottom on the 11th, but no homebrew or other beer from away. I think we could definitely find enough for a meeting on the 21st.Brewnoser wrote:So, did you meet up on the 11th, or are we trying for the 21st?TimG wrote:I'm out of town for the 14th so I'm glad there is talk of a reschedule of the February meeting. The location is variable, but the date is almost always the second Tuesday of the month. This was an exception being Valentines Day. Come on out!

Re: February 14th - Halifax Monthly Meeting
The meetings vary from month to month, but usually take place at one of the members houses. Meeting time/place gets posted to the forums, but usually end up being short notice on location. The date however, is the 2nd Tuesday of the month, this month being an exception because of Valentines day.haligonianbrewtonian wrote:hey! i'm new here. just wondering is there a designated meeting spot or does it change every month. i'm very excited to get out to one of these things. most of my recent brew has met great reviews so i'm excited to share and to taste others.

Okay, for simplicity let's go with February 21. Any takers for hosting? Unless you're optimistic the bus strike will be over by then it should be fairly central this month.
