Hoptoberfest 2017 (info and sign-up)
I'm glad to hear some chatter about this. I'm willing to host again this year in the west end of Halifax. E-mail me if you don't know the address. My usual early fall conflict is gone this year so we should be able to find a better date.
If you want to come please take the poll indicating all days you could possibly attend. Also, fill out the sign-up sheet so we have an idea of who's likely coming and what they're bringing.
We need some volunteers to help with the organization as there are many tasks to undertake (ice, food, promotion, sponsorship, etc.). Check out previous years' threads on the topic if you want to know more or contact me or Chalmers.

Re: Hoptoberfest 2017 (info and sign-up)
Couple of things to keep in mind for the dates noted above:
- Sept 15th is Garrison's Hops & Brats with the 16th being Garrison Oktoberfest running 5-11pm. If the 16th is picked, it may make it a worthwhile weekend for out of town folks to attend two or three events, making it a Craft Beer weekend.
- Sept. 30 is the Cask Beer Throwdown, hosted by Halifax Curated
- Oct. 7 falls on the Thanksgiving long weekend, which may limit people who would be otherwise engaged, or may make it easier for out of town folks to visit.

Re: Hoptoberfest 2017 (info and sign-up)
I have two brews in kegs, and one in bottles. I have a double regulator and gas but just wondering if anyone knows how I'll be able to serve it that night.
I could probably do one of those garbage can with ice in it. On the other hand the beer won't have much time to warm up.
Thoughts?

We usually run around town the afternoon of collecting coolers of ice from friendly breweries with ice-making machines and have more than enough to chill the kegs. Some people drop off their kegs and buckets in the afternoon to let the ice start to do its work.

Although all those weekends are busy I/we can find a way to make it for three of them. We'll have a friend over from England from Sept 25th to Thanksgiving. He is a member of CAMRA and will be writing an article about craft brewing in NS. I think he'd enjoy the Hoptoberfest or at least an evening get together.

Is there a limit to the people I can bring. Me and my cobrewer/gf are coming and I added a friend of mine that will be visiting from NL. Turned into two friends of mine are visiting from the island. We'll all be bringing food items and a load of homebrew!

Depending on the day you land on, Tidehouse can offer up our 4 tap jockey box. Its all ball-lock, 4 pass plate. Good to go.

I don't think any weekend is great for me to spend an entire afternoon and evening drinking too much, but I think I can definitely make it out for a few hours.

By majority vote September 23rd is our day, with October 7 as second. Perhaps we can keep that as a rain day backup. Everyone who can attend on the 23rd please confirm what you're bringing and how many will be in with you

Looks like I can't attend either date. Have fun and enjoy!
Erin's away Sept 23rd so I can't attend as I've got the kids.
Oct 7th doesn't work either as I'm on call that weekend .

I can't commit to any date at this point. If I can make it it will be last minute.

Beer is in the running for the healthiest of all alcoholic beverages. It has antibiotic, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. It has been proven that drinking up to 3 beers a day decreases your risk of heart disease by around 30% and it also lowers your risk of getting diseases like diabetes. Beer is also chock full of important vitamins and minerals that you need to survive.

Re: Hoptoberfest 2017 (info and sign-up)
Woo hoo! One week to go and we're up for 42748 signed-up participants. We need a few volunteers to take on the following tasks:
- ice (arrange to pick up coolers of ice from places with ice makers in the morning)
- food (we've had custom made hop sausages and buns in past years and I've heard some interest in doing this again)
- promotion (spread the word to people we'd like to show off to who wouldn't normally hear about Brewnoser events, e.g. staff from our favourite pubs and breweries)
- sponsorship (see if the local home brew shops and breweries want to donate or lend us anything to help the event, e.g. a jockey box, ice, door prizes)

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
