Re: Spring Lagerfest
Just so happens I'll have a couple growlers of vienna lager. Perfect timing.

Re: Spring Lagerfest
I'm definitely going to attend, I'm not sure what I should arrange for foodstuffs though. If you need a particular item, let me know. I was debating driving but I think I'd rather not - will anyone be travelling from or through the peninsula by car & have a spare seat? It looks like the bus runs all day, which is a good last resort.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

Re: Spring Lagerfest
Yup, bus is a bit of PITA but you can make it work.
If you'd rather not come up with a 'recipe' for something, you could bring some sandwich buns (kaiser.. ciabatta?) or some extra tortillas. Quac is always welcome as well. Or a bag or two of nachos.. It is Mexican.. go nuts!

Re: Spring Lagerfest
I think I'll be coming, but only during the first wave (brewing/lunch time). Tell me what I should bring: a keg of beer (not a lager) or food?

Beer is always welcome!
I hadn't really thought of 'food' for lunch.. so let's just say 'eat before you leave' if you're coming early afternoon. I'm sure there will be snacks/etc around most of the though.
Regarding folks brewing (I'm considering bailing on it myself.. will be busy enough 'hosting').. be cool if somebody did. Any takers?

I'll be working on a drive out/cab back scenario, but details will be last minute. I'll be in touch when I know more.

I can bring plates if you still need them... I'd like to see some brewing if it's still going on

Ok, I'll put you down for plates. Maybe somebody else could grab some forks?
Just a reminder folks, you can edit the Stuff/Food Table by clicking the Google Docs link (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... mw5a3BjS3c).. open and editable by anybody! So if you're planning on bring something.. chuck it up on the list.

I can bring an extra cooler and some forks. I don't have my computer so if someone can edit it that would be great

Re: Spring Lagerfest
People who want to brew: do we have an idea for a beer? Probably a lager, maybe an easy Pilsner?
I want to take part, but not take any beer with me, as I am out of province for 2 weeks the next day.
TimG, do you have brewing gear we can use, or should we bring our own? I could bring some malt and hops, someone tell me what we're making.
I'll bring a keg of something with me to share (unsure of what it will be as of right now, but it won't be a lager).

Re: Spring Lagerfest
I've been chatting with homebrewcrew and I think we're going to make a Märzen.
http://hopville.com/recipe/1337091/okto ... pants-2012" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have all the ingredients but the hops (hence my request for trades in the Classifieds). Homebrewcrew might have some hops we can use but has to check his inventory.
I'm making a 3L starter using Wyeast 2206 Bavarian Lager yeast right now.
I wouldn't be opposed to eliminating the specialty grains and making this a double-decoction either if you guys are game though.

Re: Spring Lagerfest
I'm all for another brew happening. My gear isn't set up for double batches (only a 50L keg cut down) but somebody is open to use it if they'd like to do a single batch. I do have:
- propane burner (another tank of propane might be handy just in case.. not sure how topped up I am)
- immersion chiller
- thermometers
- grain mill
- scale
I also have a 240V plug in the garage if anybody wants to take their electric gear (would love to see how these work!)
I was going to sustain from brewing so I can 'host' effectively (this means getting a good jag on in the afternoon and falling off my deck!
).. seriously though I'd rather not be running around cleaning and what not, but if somebody wanted to colloboration brew I'd be all for chipping in on ingredients. I wouldn't mind having a Pilsner on tap.. but don't have any Pilsner malt to contribute to a brew. I have a fair amount of hops around though. Somebody would have to make a starter? Also, not sure I can lager effectively (unless the fermentation stage is low teens and then I can make room in my keg fridge to finish it off?)
So long and short of it is; I'm up for a double brew, have some gear and ingredients.. but somebody tell me what we're brewing! haha

Sounds good Tim. Snacks are always good.
If anybody is on the fence on what to bring food wise, we could really use a side or two to go along with the tacos/tortas... not exactly sure what makes a side Mexican, haha but doesn't need to be Mexican as long as it is tasty!
