This event was top-notch all-around. Thanks to Sean & the rest of the Pics bunch for their hospitality and for putting it on! Also great to meet several new Brewnoser pals.

Brewer's Bash was an incredible event!! Lots of great beers, a very relaxed atmosphere and was well organized. Easily a gazillion times better than the Atlantic Beer Festival in Moncton. Hopefully this will become an annual event. Some new beers for me that were standouts were the Mad Tom IPA, Red Racer IPA, Espresso Stout from Yukon Brewing, an Patrice's La Bringue. Even though I've had both before, RB's Fathom and The Rookie were outstanding as well.

It was great chatting with CorneliusAlphonse there and I ended up hanging out with PEIBeerGuy a good portion of the time sampling beers with him. Such a great day!

A couple of crappy phone pics.

Good stuff. Weather looked really good.

Sent from Tapatalk 2, a prick of a company.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Whoa. I kind of dismissed this thinking it was just a few local breweries hanging out. If it happens again I'll have to go!

Awesome job on the fest by the Picaroons' gang. I was only there from 2:30-5:30 but I had a blast. Too many great beers to taste. Ran into a couple of Brewnosers there. Must have been a lot more. What did it get like later/ Were there many drunks or was it all tame and friendly, like in the afternoon? Did they run out of beer? ;)

I take it you didn't read my posts about it here, on FB and Twitter! I warned you well in advance how awesome it was going to be and listed the breweries coming ;) Too bad you missed it. Who knows if Sean'll ever pull this off again. he says he will, but... We'll see how much beer is leftover and what he does with it. He actually bought all the "import" beer himself and resold. Risky...

I had initially been planning to go to Toronto for a Weezer concert, but ended up cancelling, then kind of forgot about the timing of this. Oh well.

Picaroon's Brewers Bash

Post by jdobbs » Tue Jul 16, 2013 10:04 pm

Was anyone else in Freddy for the bash? I know Canuck and PEIbeerguy was. My first beer festival and I was blown away.

Craig, it remained very tame and mature the entire time from what I saw. With the 12 hour format, it allowed people to come and go as they pleased and sample at their leisure.....and IMHO, it's a FAR superior format than the 2-3 hour time slots you have for every other beer festival. After what I experienced at the last Moncton beer festival I went to, I highly doubt that I'll ever return again. This one in Fredericton however I'll be sure to buy tickets each year, assuming that Sean can swing it again next year.

Awesome!

The stunner is ROOKIE, but I expect most won't really get that. Of course you can't run around drinking IPAs and other bigger beers before you try it, it just doesn't have the alcohol sweetness as a delivery system. :cheers2:

I had the Rookie after a few big brews and I still thought it was really good. One of the most unique samples of the day.

First time highlights for me were: Muskoka Mad Tom IPA, Central City Red Racer IPA, Yukon Brewing Espresso Stout, Spearhead Moroccan Brown Ale, Great Lakes Crazy Canuck PA & Camerons Rye PA.

I agree with Canuck. Everyone was cool and calm and I think it was the format and focus on craft beer that where to thank for that. To me it was way more enjoyable than seaport festival.

Also agree with Canuck about the vibe. Twelve hours was a perfect length and allowed a lot of people to wander on and off the site to get food, or just cool off.

Very nice! And picaroons not getting stuck with hundreds of leftovers means it is more likely to happen again.

Don't see it on their Facebook but I don't have a Facebook account so maybe it just shows up for their "facebook friends". I guess I will call the store but their most likely reaction will be "Huh?". Hope lots of Brewnosers score some excellent beer!

In Fredericton and reputable sources are saying that people are planning to camp out to be there when the leftovers go on sale. And that they're telling people they'll be for sale Thursday morning.

There was an article in the Moncton Times & Transcript this morning which may boost interest/awareness in the sale. The selfish part of me wants to snag some of my favourites from last Saturday, but at the same time if there is strong interest from the public it may signal to NB Liquor that they should try to stock a wider variety of Canadian craft beer.

Marc from the Laundromat was mentioned in the story, and quote "Leger plans on getting his hands on much of the craft beer when it hits shelves this week, and he recommends interested beer drinkers check it out."

The NB Liquor spokesperson said there was "plenty" of beer for the sale, but who knows what that means.
