It has been on the market for two years and hasn’t sold yet, but it could sell. Lots of hotels and B&B’s, taxis etc. and people could bring sleeping bags and kip out on the floor.

Just throwing it in the mix.
I'd be willing to make the trip.

Do you need a licence just if you are selling beer? If people bring their own beer& food and no money changes hands, it's just a party isn't it?

Not quite, as we have pitched in for sausages and other food items previously. No money paid for beer, though.

I was talking to a BN'er on the weekend, and they might be able to host. They're in the HRM. I think they're considering dates and will post up when they've got that sorted.

If you're referring to me, yes the offer is date dependent. September 27 would work for me but ironically not for the arm twisters I encountered at Stillwell on the weekend. A week before or after might work, but no closer to Thanksgiving than that. The tenants are keen so we could have two contiguous yards to hold it in.

Arm twister here :spilly: don't let me hold up a good date. The wedding isn't until 6:30 so I could probably make it for an afternoon pint :cheers3:
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Just figured out why September. The actual Oktoberfest runs for 16 days and ends first Sunday in October... Something to do with Prince Luitpold getting married in 1810. They originally drank Marzen (a stronger dunkel) as the wedding was in the early autumn and they only brewed in the winter months back then. Marzen gradually evolved into Oktoberfest Beer which is lighter in colour, which can only be called Octoberfest beer in Germany if it is brewed within the city walls of Munich.

...been studying for my Cicerone beer servers exam

For sure. My folks live in Dartmouth so we could probably stay there, but it's a long walk

Should we get a spreadsheet going with what people plan on bringing? Do we still have the canopy available in case we need it for shelter? Also, should we extend invites out to some of the smaller breweries?

The canopy is still available, and I would prefer to move it to a more convenient location in the city if anyone had room. It's fairly compact.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

"my parents church".. ha, awesome!

Sep 27th seems to be picking up steam.. if it happens, I'll be there, early and till late! :headbang: Miss me some Brewnosers!

Personal transportation will be lacking and I can only haul so much shit from the west, but I'll plan to bring a couple bottles of some 'fancy snooty beers' to make up for my lack of contribution. Will be available for helping setup the day of (and running around doing shit the couple days leading up if somebody wants to pick me up).

Somebody lock the date down and I'll buy my plane ticket!

I just had something come up on October 4, so I'm very much in favour of the 27th now.

Who's doing this? Haven't heard back from Kyle. Sandy's now offering. Lot's of people asking questions that can only be answered by whoever is hosting.

If you're referring to his offer above, I think he's saying he can house the Brewnosers Canopy, not the entire Hoptoberfest. I think. Sometimes tough to figure out what he's saying online. ;)
