Saturday lunch at Rockbottom

Post by KMcK » Fri Feb 10, 2012 4:26 am

To those who haven't been following the grain/hops pickup catastrophe in Group Buys, we're meeting at Rockbottom on Saturday at noon for lunch. Everyone is invited to join us. :welcome:

The bar is open at ten, but the kitchen isn't open until noon, so you can get your booze in the morning but you're not allowed to eat with it. That must be an NSLC regulation. :drunk:

Good to see somebody else looking after business in the wee hours. IIRC, Nash is tapping a firkin at noon.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Also of note is that anyone who ordered hops from the PEI group they will be availabe for pickup at the RB at this brunch.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Hmmm. We were planning to catch Pina at Park Lane tomorrow, and hit RB for the firkin. Maybe we'll try for an afternoon showing.
Currently on tap: Nothing!
In keg: Still nothing.
In Primary: Doggone American Rye Pale Ale

Mother nature has foiled my plans to make it down it seems. Hoping that I'll be able to shuffle some things around next weekend and make it down for the NCM pickup.

Awesome turnout indeed. Thanks for coming out guys! Blew the Pin of Black Tea Weizen around 4:30.

We have a new chef starting Tuesday so we should see a nice improvement with the food soon :)

I had this burger on Friday. It was pretty tasty (better than most burgers in this city!), but I just got a little cup of jalapeño to add myself - I was hoping for a lot more jalapeño. I'm guessing this comment means that the burger has changed in the last couple weeks?

I don't know what the fuck happened the day me and Nash ordered the burgers with jalapenos. I swear to god, there were more peppers than burger. But apparently, that never happened, as the chef said jalapenos cost too much to ever do that...

I guess I created some kind of urban burger myth. :lolno:

Looks like I missed a great event. I will take solace in my consumption of beers in Miami last week. Crazy good stuff. Zeke's Roadhouse on Lincoln Ave. in South Beach and the DAB (Democratic Republic of Beer) 14th at Biscayne Blvd in Miami both highly recommended. :beer2:

The Rockbottom burger was good when I had it a few weeks ago, but the patty was too small for the bun. I had the avocado turkey burger on Saturday. It was properly proportioned, including the avocado (most places put way too much on it resulting in a sloppy mess). The only fault was the the bun was cold.
