So LeafMan has the bag and plans to brew tomorrow - who wants it after him? Anyone looking to try BIAB for the first time?

So, the bag has been used - no issues and a couple of new features. If anyone is looking to use it, let me know and I can hand it off. I'm downtown on weekdays through the day, and in lower Sackville evenings and weekends. I'll post a couple of pics and comments after my boil is finished up.

Let's clarify - no issues with the bag. It is the last boil for that burner though - soot 6" up the side of my keggle.

Most definitely! Calling tomorrow to see if they have one in stock in Burnside so I can hopefully pick it up on Wednesday.

I'm most curious of your thoughts on the new features - the webbing all the way around, velcro adjustment, and change to the finished edges. It's a bit more time consuming, and the velcro/webbing isn't cheap, so we'd probably be charging an additonal $5 for these bags. Is it worth it? Pics of it installed on the keggle would be nice too!
Thanks for testing it out Leafman

Will get the comments and pics tonight - too nice to sit at the computer today. Overall, I like the webbing and velcro. I can do without the handles.
The webbing and velcro was nice because it eliminated the need for clips or bungee cords to keep the bag in place.
The new seams didn't catch any grain so cleanup was quicker as well.
I'd pay the $5 for the velcro and webbing, but drop the handles.
Pics later tonight.

I can leave it on the step if you want, or wait for the grain pickup.

New and improved BIAB bag in my 58L Keggle. Webbing and velcro make it easier to handle. The improved stitching doesn't trap grain like my other bag so cleanup is quicker. The size was perfect for the keggle.

Thanks for the feedback Derek. Any suggestions you'd have to improve it?

The velcro strap may have been a bit short - you can see in the picture that when cinched up on the keg, half of the velcro left exposed but it wasn't an issue. Diameter was perfect for the keggle, and length was more than enough to hit the bottom. You may be able to trim a couple inches of material away, but the extra is nice. The webbing makes it a bit sturdier up around the top lip and makes it easier for me to handle. For my own bag I use a bungee cord wrapped around the keg to hold the bag in place while stirring, so the velcro means one less item for me to handle. If I was to get another bag, I'd go for the webbing with velcro, but without the handles.Jimmy wrote:Thanks for the feedback Derek. Any suggestions you'd have to improve it?

Re: BrewNosers community BIAB from www.biab-brewing.com
Thanks Derek. Our plan is to attach the velcro in a position based on the kettle size - this one was just "universal" between the OBK 15g pot & a standard keggle. Adding extra velcro would have meant exposed velcro and we were trying to avoid it because it could potentially snag on the bag material.
The feedback is good - thanks again. If you're going to the grain pickup and no one has asked for the bag by then, I'll grab it from you and hold onto it until the next person wants to try it.

I have the bag at my place if anyone wants to give BIAB a try. Post up and let me know and we can arrange pick up of the bag.
Also, for anyone looking to purchase a bag, this new style will be available soon. We were waiting for an order of webbing to come in and it arrived yesterday. Stay tuned.

It's designed to fit a keggle or the OBK 15g pot. What are you using for a mash tun?

I'm working this weekend. I frequently drive by CP, though. I can arrange to pick up the bag when convenient for you. Will have a bunch of questions about BIAB.

I'm using a 70 qt Colman Extreme 5 cooler, I think it's the same one that you use Jimmy. Any chance I can order a cooler bag with handles and skip the measurements?
