Max batch size 15 gallon pot

I'm using Dave's 15 gallon pot, wondering if anyone else with this pot has pushed the limits of Biab already. I'm hoping to do 8 gallon batches around 1.050 og.
I'd like to hear how large a Biab batch has been done in there. Thinking of using some lme to offset grain volume as well.

I used to mash in my 15 g pot and a smaller 4 g pot and combine for one boil with BIAB. By memory I'm thinking 42 litres and around 18 pounds grain maxed out the 15 g pot for a 10.5 g batch. I put around 5 lbs grain in the other pot to mash. What I'm doing now is mashing all the grain I want in my 19g pot and you could do the same in a 15 g. I pull the bag and sparge with the left over water using my auto siphon. Most of the time I don't need to. I just use a stove rack to place on the pot and BIAB on top. Super easy and it works. I just recommend ferm cap when doing double batches in a 15 g pot. If your recipe calls for a 90 minute boil you can add water at the end of the boil to dilute it a bit. Best I could do with my 15 g pot was 1.063 around 10.5 gallons.

wow that's more volume than I expected, thanks. The sparge idea seems like a safe approach, to get to the pre boil volume.

You could also do a 10 gallon batches mash in your 15gal pot, just with a thicker consistency, and top up for your boil. I used to do stove top 5 gallon batches in a 5 gallon pot this way. You will have lower efficiency but it doesn't matter if you adjust your recipe accordingly.

Interesting idea, Do you run a second large pot to dunk?
I was planning on mashing then pouring 10 L of fresh water at 168f through my suspended grain and into the pot.

Nope. cold water and lit it drip. Add the runnings as they come.
I have been thinking of doing a You Tube run of how do you brew to show "methods" and "Hacks".
I have the getto rig that works for me but not you. Lets combine them or good, not evil.
Do you have a camera and days to waste?

I have a camera, but days are hard to come by. Interesting idea. Could be a great series.
