Re: My BIAB Variation Video Tutorial
Great stuff, just what I needed
I watched without sound, so I hope I didn't miss any words of wisdom... That said, I guessing it will be hard to do a mash out this way

I took all sound out and just added some royalty free musicbluenose wrote:Great stuff, just what I needed

I don't mash out and get the same/better efficiency than I did while doing the single vessel BIAB in my kettle and doing a mash out.
With that said, you can hold back a portion of your water from the mash, heat it toward the end of the mash and add it to do a mash out.

Re: My BIAB Variation Video Tutorial
Please do. I would like to see how it's done one more time before I do my first one which is hopefully in a couple of weeks. I'll be doing keggle BIAB for now.

The easy version in Put water and bag in Kettle (Beersmith does the calculations for you)bluenose wrote:Please do. I would like to see how it's done one more time before I do my first one which is hopefully in a couple of weeks. I'll be doing keggle BIAB for now.
Heat to 70-72* and add grain
monitor (every 15-20 min) mash temp
after 60min raise to 74*
Pull out bag (let drain)
I used a large colander and a bucket. Next time I'll use a large bowl
Boil, add hops, cool, transfer and ferment.
Takes me a little over 3 hours. I did 30l @ 1.040 on Sunday and can easily lift the bag.

Re: My BIAB Variation Video Tutorial
I'm a stickler for details, so if you could please bear with me
and turn the heat back on here? How long before I pull out the grains and bring it to a boil?

I assume I kill the heat at this point?GAM wrote:The easy version in Put water and bag in Kettle (Beersmith does the calculations for you)

Turn on the heat and I stir and watch the temp rise to 74*

Re: My BIAB Variation Video Tutorial
Jimmy, meant to ask you at the party yesterday but with the cooler do you have anything in the bottom like an elbow to help eliminate the dead space?
If so can you post a pic?

Re: My BIAB Variation Video Tutorial
I don't have a pic of it, but it's at the 6:38 mark on the video in the first post of this thread.
It's just a 90* stainless street elbow:

Re: My BIAB Variation Video Tutorial
I have a bazooka screen in one mash tun, but I have this 90° elbow in the other and it works great https://www.everwoodavebrewshop.com/pro ... x-1-2-mpt/
