Re: My Single Vessel Electric Brewery Build
homebrewgearcanada.com is also now selling weldless bulkheads with a 2pc valve (all stainless) for $20. Noticed they've also got some tri-clover stuff as well.

While I'm at it, today I made an order from Auber Instruments. I got my PID (SYL-2352) from them earlier this year and a SSR with heat sync from China.

There is a place in burnside that had reasonable prices on tri-clamp stuff. Check with nash or johnnymac.

Re: My Single Vessel Electric Brewery Build
Thanks!
On a roll today. I got my countertop supports in and the counter mounted. Also I did the holes in my vessel for the element and temp probe.
What's next? Maybe I should tackle the control panel or finish the kettle...

Re: My Single Vessel Electric Brewery Build
Hi
I am also looking into going electric. I'm looking at BIAB using an electric brew kettle. Where did you get your element from? Was it around here? This is about the only part I'm having trouble sourcing out. I like the look of your set up. I'm looking at using the no chill method so to keep everything in the one vessel. Thanks for the help.

Hi Stoker, my element is a Camco 5500W ULWD (Ultra Low Watt Density). I could not find it in Canada and it was hard enough to find a US seller to ship that item here.
I got it on Amazon.com from ProMax Commerce: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BP ... NR4I8RXLVW
Costs, etc:
I am working on the build more this week as I almost have everything I need to get it all working!

If stoker doesn't take that offer, I will. My regular element corroded thru in just over a year.

I'm thinking of adding a magnesium anode and likely will at the first signs of corrosion.maltster wrote:If stoker doesn't take that offer, I will. My regular element corroded thru in just over a year.

Re: My Single Vessel Electric Brewery Build
I found the main issue with the regular copper clad elements is the scaling. I love the ss immersion rod.

Re: My Single Vessel Electric Brewery Build
Good day.
I'm interested in buying the element. Can you send me a PM and we can work out the details. The only place I've seen in Canada for the Camco ULWD 5500 element so far is The Electric Brewery in Ottawa.

Re: My Single Vessel Electric Brewery Build
I did some work on the control panel today. This stuff sure takes a long time. I got the front and back laid out, holes marked, drilled, punched, jigsawed, and put the switches and stuff in. Tomorrow I do the backplane and start wiring it up.
