Moving to the garage..... still some tweaks to do but it'll do the job. It's a dead fridge and I'll use the freezer section as a cooler with some ice packs on a hot summer day.

You might want to consider upgrading to a digital temperature controller (like the STC-1000) that has a built in delay. Using just a wall thermostat doesn't protect your fridge compressor from frequent on-off cycles. Not sure how bad it will be with a thermostat, but it could shorten the life of your fridge.

The refrigeration system is hooped. I'm just running a 40 w bulb to keep it in the 20-23 C range. It's pretty cool where I live so close to the bay that I can't see the need for cooling. If the fermentation activity heats up the chamber that'll keep the light off on most days in the summer.

They are great especially for the summer months when you need to keep the heat down. I have one built from a mini freezer.
