Interesting... is this really a new design or more regurgitation of the other systems?

BoilCoiltm ELECTRIC HEATING SYSTEM

We have been asked for some time to develop a homebrew specific electric heating system and we've responded with incredible simplicity! The BoilCoiltm system is a clean-sheet design to eliminate the annoying aspects and safety issues of existing and DIY heaters. Namely a "less than ideal" electrical connection system with an annoying heavy power cord permanently affixed to the pot. And most are not water tight or particularly safe. They also require the user to drill a massive hole in the pot or weld in a large coupling. Expensive and risky! Lastly, the watt density and less than ideal configuration causes sacrifices in boil quality.

The BoilCoiltm stainless immersion heater has a circular coil on the perimeter of the pot . This stays neatly out of the way and generates an impressive convective current in your pot driving off DMS and other undesirable compounds. The massive surface area of the coil also allows an ultra low watt density that will not scorch your wort. Each BoilCoiltm is engineered specifically for each size pot and batch size for a consistent boil off rate and impressive power. Last, but certainly not least, is the custom molded removable power plug. No annoying cord to get in the way during cleaning. With its immersible coil, cleaning the BoilCoiltm is a breeze! Installation is a simple and requires only two 5/8" holes to be drilled in your pot with a step drill. We will also have an electric Tower of Powertm with a custom made linear digital power trim. For simple installations we'll have a high power switch at an economical price.

Neat, I am looking at going electric soon. Will keep my eye on this.
I wonder if it will have a thermostat control...

I've been waiting for this as well as I'm planning to go electric this year.

Really thinking about getting one of these.

I just don't know if I want to install a vent hood in my basement. It's the big thing from holding me back from going electric.

Hey Everyone,

Just a heads up that I'll be bringing these in soon. If you want one let me know and I'll make sure I have enough for you.

Thanks

Dave

Possibly, depending on the pricing of these and the electric tower of power.

Pretty certain that I want two, but I'd need to know the pricing too. As an aside, I wrote to Blichmann about this, but as a distributor your voice would be much louder: they should really consider selling the coil separate from the cord/plug. Given the unpluggable design, it would make sense to just have a single cord coming out of a controller and switch back and forth between your kettle and HLT.

A rough price would help. I have a dryer plug and window to exhaust for winter brewing.

Morebeeer has them, I'm hoping the prices are similar.

I can, I wasn't planning on stocking that particular product, but if you want one I can bring it in for you.

I would be curious of the price for both...

From what I've read the boil coil isn't easy to hook up to a non Blichmann temp controller.

Unfortunately that's a US site and and US product, I have to pay extra shipping, GST, Duties and exchange on top of what US retailers have to pay so bear that in mind.

If you want to look at the only other Canadian retailer advertising those online go here: http://homebrewsupplies.ca/search/?quer ... records=12" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Those prices I will be able to compete with, but unfortunately with the dollar where it is and shipping I can't compete with US retailers on the Blichmann products.

So you want a control module for electric. Do you want the stand with it? If so do you want the pump as well? Once I know exactly what you're looking for I can get you a price.

Also here in Canada, 66 cents cheaper than Canadian HomeBrew. http://torontobrewing.ca/index.php/blic ... lcoil.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Given pricing in Canada, I think I'm going to pass even though I like the BoilCoil setup.

I Don't see how the boil coil will be effective without a temp controller.

Ideally I would keep the same setup I have now just replace my propane burner with the boil coil.

My big fear is during the hot break not being able to control the temp causing boil over.

sucanushie: You can make your own controller. There are a bunch of threads with step by steps for cheap options. :)

The issue is the amperage on the coil. You can't use either of my controllers as they only provide 10 amps, while the BoilCoil is rated for 15 amps (10 gallon, 240V) and higher depending on the size. You can calculate the amperage by using the specs on the attached sheet.
