Trying to determine the best insulated cooler for mash later tun setup
Insulation quality, and ability to three in ball valves, etc, are key
Will likely install my own copper pipe mash drain in bottom.
Step 1 cooler?
What have you all experienced? Found?
Thanks john

What size batched are you planning on doing? Starting with 5gal then maybe up to 10?

If you are doing or planning on doing 10gal in the future I recommend this cooler
http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/colem ... njmXvm-1Bk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; if not a standard blue one from walmart will do just fine for 5gal batches.

I got that one too b/c everyone who has one says they're the cat's ass, but I can't get the frakker to seal

I have the 52 qt / 13 gal version of that, works very well for me. I use a bazooka screen in the bottom of mine, and it was simple to install a ball valve on it.

What's the o-ring/washer configuration you're using?

first attempt was: SS90 > SS washer > Silicone o-ring > cooler wall > washer > locknut > ballvalve
second attempt: SS90 > SS washer > Silicone o-ring > cooler wall > silicone o-ring > washer > locknut > ballvalve
third attempt: SS90 > SS washer > Silicone o-ring > SS washer (the o-ring fit inside the washer closest to the cooler wall, and the first one held it in)> Two layers of gasket material from Mr. X > cooler wall > washer > locknut > ballvalve
The first time, I thought it was coming out from under the exterior washer, but it's definitely coming from the inside of the washer (if that makes any sense)
