I was having some serious problems this summer when camping and keeping the beer cold. After some google searches, a visit to beer fest and chatting to some guys at noble grape I built the following.

I probably went a little overboard on the length, 100ft of 3/4" copper tube, for the tubing as my beers was wickedly cold. Planning for next year to add 2 x 20ft 1/4" copper tubes and have two taps. Will mean I get through a little more ice, but will have cider and beer when camping.

The only difficult part of the build was bending the tube and that was more time consuming than difficult, as you just wrap it around a keg. If anyone want more info, let me know.

My consumption from copper is just as high as with plastic.

The copper was a little on the pricy side, but went to a wholesaler in Burnside so didn't quite break the bank.

Re the question of PH, stainless steel would be better, but that would break the bank. Also the beer really isn't in the lines too long as this is only my camping box, I have a kegerator at home:) Spoke to the guys at NG in Burnside and they said that's what they have done. Beer tasted bloody good to me.

Just ordered my second tap so soon to have dual keg system for camping.
