DIY apple press

Post by EastCoastHoppers » Sun Aug 30, 2020 9:12 am

Made an apple press a few years back from some old 2x6 I had kicking around, an old car jack and the basket from my very first turkey fryer kit (bought for the kettle and burner). Works great! I shred the apples like cheese with a shred disk in my food processor, load them into a BIAB and press the juice out. Seem to get pretty good good extraction.

Went apple foraging with the kids last week and got a pile of apples so we dug it out and pressed some juice!
Got enough to press 6g that I'll ferment as is and 5 more gallons to which I added about 10lbs of homegrown strawberries. If I can get my hands on some more rhubarb, I'll add that in too.

Thanks! Was a pretty easy build, all the parts were free and it works great! Nice to be able to reuse as much stuff as possible instead of tossing it out!

Awesome.
Great idea repurposing the old car jack!
