Looking for a few suggestions and parts for a DIY stir plate. I've canvassed my friends, family and cooworkers so now its onto the Brewnosers!
1) Anyone have any old 12V adapters and/or PC fans kicking around? I can buy new but would prefer used lol (I can pay in beer or $$$)
2) Rheostat - Chatted with the folks at Jentronics but they only have a 15 or 50 ohm rheostat, so I'm not sure if that wouldn't be powerful enough or too strong for the PC fan and magnet.
Any help and suggestions would be great!

I built my own a couple years ago with a rheostat but it never worked properly...I couldn't fine tune the speed on the stir plate. I ended up buying one of these:

It's probably more than you want to spend but its worked great for me.

Thanks Mark, I've heard of folks using dimmer switches. I will keep those in mind if the rheostat doesn't pan out!

I should have a fan kicking around. I'm in Lower Sackville (or Halifax Bayer's Road during the week)

I'll let you know if I can swing by Bayers Rd during the week, or if I'm heading up to Lower Sackville some time soon.
Thanks!

For power sources, just go scrounge through the discarded electronics bin at the front of a staples, where people throw out their old cell phones. I grabbed a few different voltages for mine and tried them out until I got one that spinned how I like. I forget what the voltage ended up being though.

Thanks, I found a 12V adapter at home and that's what I used for my keezer fan. Just sourcing the case and rheostat now, the speed regulator Derek sent me might be my best bet.
