Hop Back Anyone?

Post by Bitterman » Sat Dec 30, 2017 10:15 pm

HI,
I'm new to this forum and not sure if there is already a thread going on Hop Backs so here goes...

I'm thinking of adding a Hop Back to my system and was wondering if anyone has used the Blichmann Hop Rocket? It seems to get good reviews but for a couple hundred bucks it should. Normally I would build something myself but I really like the features of the Blichmann and I'm tempted.

So does anyone have design of their own that works well and won't cost too much?

Ive seen people use a water filter as a hop back (remove the filter). Super cheap.

I've seen some of those too. I'm a bit concerned about getting off flavors from running hot wort through plastic, sooner or later it will start to break down I think.

There are some designs using mason jars: https://www.google.ca/search?rlz=1C1CHB ... B95yMI3deI

Can't personally vouch for them.
