Sick and tired of dead keggerator

Post by RubberToe » Thu Nov 07, 2013 5:30 pm

Ok so now I've gone over 3 months with a dead keggerator and a dwindling beer supply. I don't think it's getting fixed. Now I'm looking for a 14 or 15 cf chest freezer by the weekend, something new or practically new for a decent price.

I've just removed my 6 faucet assemblies, lines, CO2 manifold, regulator, etc. Now I'm about to try to get the damn collar off it but if memory serves I was generous with the construction adhesive (fuck). The plan is to remove it and find a freezer that is slightly smaller than this one so I can just cut it down a bit and reattach it.

This would be a good weekend to get this back in order and do another brew. I'll be kegging an ESB and IPA this weekend too. Maybe I should get a few of you here to help me switch the freezers out of the basement and drink a few brews.

I missed the group brew last weekend and I was also thinking about doing something along those lines here.

Hit me up on the day and I'll let you know. I have stuff on but if the window is right I'll go.

Thanks, I'll post updates as she goes. The collar might not be coming off...

Costco has the Danby 10.2 for $299 which is pretty good. I did a search and found someone's build, and it's pretty good. Fits 8 kegs snugly, needs a collar.

This will be easy for two people to get into my basement, I might even be able to do it myself given enough beers. The other hunk of shit will be tougher to remove though.

I might head out tonight or tomorrow morning to pick this up.

Big thanks to Tim for giving me a hand.

No brewing or BBQing going on, just wasn't feeling up to it. I'll post pics of the new kegerator when it's done.

Work in progress. I'm planning a brew later too.

After spending time sanitizing my co2 lines today I got beer in them Twice! FML. Dave, expect an order for a 6 way manifold with check valves.

The beer is good though, ESB, IPA, RIS. I swear the RIS is the best beer I've ever brewed.

Very nice indeed, that's alot of Perlicks. I've been debating a keezer for awhile (my little 2 keg mini fridge is wearing thin). How about an interior shot?

Yeah when I built the first one I put the money in the hardware instead of the looks. No regrets there, they will last (even if I need o-ring rebuilds hahaha). Still work to do here with insulation, line management, co2.

What do you use to regulate temperature for your setup? Is the lowest (highest temperature) setting fine or do you have some sorts of relay setup?

I use a typical STC-1000 build for my temp controller.
