Bar top

Post by Downs » Thu Dec 20, 2012 1:14 pm

So in my other thread I was asking about opinions on my bar top.

I have a quote to get a piece of stainless the size I need and bent for me so I just need to liquid nail it. $175.00

That is about double what I wanted to spend for just the top.

Anyone know where to get some epoxy resin, the really thick stuff for pouring onto a a bar top?

Everything I see is from the states is not available locally and even marine stores I spoke to here use polyurethane which is not the same thing and won't due what I am looking for.

I need the thick stuff you pour on.

Any ideas?

no ideas cause I don't know what kind of epoxy you need. but I will warn you that enough epoxy to put a thick coat on a bartop might be very pricey...

yeah
it looks like i need a bit but the us pricing had it coming in a bit lower then the price of the stainless

really what i am trying to figure out
do i just pay for the stainless
its all done and i just put it on

or get the epoxy for maybe a bit cheaper but have more effort?

just things i am mulling over

Just grab a couple tubes of PL Premium, they're about $5 and will definitely hold. Be sure to rough up the side you glue down with whatever you use
Kegged: El Dorado IPA, Rocketfuel 2.0, Wet Hopped Pale, Ryrish Red, Marzen, BN Exchange Dunkel, BN Exchange NEIPA, Lies Lies Lies - Citra <0.5% ale
Fermenting: NZ Pilsner with Enigma, Strawberry brett cider

How big is your top? And how much epoxy you looking for? I could donate about 2 quarts left over from a kayak I built, but its the thin stuff. Multiple thin coats are better than thick...wont check on you. This stuff is slow cure as well(24 hr)

There is a pourable varathane product at home Depot for counter tops.

looks like internet shopping isn't helping
ill have to go in

although im leaning towards the stainless
for the price to me might just be a whole lot easier to have someone else deal with it

that just leaves what ill trim the stainless with and build out the overhang out of

anyone have any lines on a couple pieces of really nice wood?
I'll need just over 8ft for the longest piece
