Little bit of British-style sweetness, but not heavy at all. Would have liked a little more hops on the nose, but no mistake, a fine pale ale. Thanks!

I really enjoyed this. I've only seen a beer that orange one other time. I'm glad others got to it before me and noted the toast flavour. I've been wondering what that is, exactly, and now I know. Thanks!

Drew it was nice to have met you at the exchange and have a chat. I passed the beer to my wife after I had a sip and her words were "that is really nice, I like it". She hates my hop bombs. I see your percentages but I'm curious about your gravity? Bitterness is low but on par for a pale ale and has some nice citrus notes. It's a solid beer. Thanks!

Although I'm not participating in the Advent (which I am regretting immensely), I am reading everyone's tasting notes and their recipes with great interest.
This Pale Ale recipe is very similar to one I have just kegged recently which I based on a 2009 BYO magazine clone recipe of Honker's Ale, although I changed the hops out. I'm interested in seeing how much influence Drew's use of 50:50 MO and Cdn 2-row has compared to my 100% MO base malt. The other malt proportions used are very similar. I used 1/2 and 1 oz hop additions instead of 1/4 and 1/2 oz, but they were american west coast varieties like Drew's, so a malt taste and aroma comparison would be interesting.
I wonder if I can tease out the taste profile of Drew's entry from everyone's comments to compare to mine. Sort of a tele-judging.

This is easy drinking, isn't it? If I was judging this as an APA I'd say the malt presence is a little high, but fuck it, I like it this way. I like how it's balanced, and that the late hops are there but not overpowering. Good job!

Thin head and light carbonation. Hazy orange in colour. Lightly malty on the nose. Pleasant balance of malts and hops. A quite tasty pale ale.
