its a simple extract recipe, loosely based on BCS's recipe.
8.5 lbs of Pilsner LME
3.25 lbs of canes sugar

Saaz hops 2.5 ounces 90 minutes single addition

We let the temp climb for a week up to 28
Og 1.084
Fg 1.014
ABV 9.17%

I'm not going to be home tomorrow, so I cheated and cracked this one tonight

malty/biscuity body... finishes with a fruity/appley taste... sweet... and booze, so much booze

I'm only a third through this pint and my head is drunky

It is sweet and I get lots of banana off my keg of it, sadly my bottle is undercarbonated:(

So its all clear and Phil doesnt get the blame if this turns out a dud, its my half of this that I fermented and bottled for all you fine beer lovers

Brought it from 18C to 28C slowly over the course of a weekish, about 1 1/2 a degree a day.

The recipe says to makse sure we use the correct yeast to get the same pear notes for this style, so I think its pretty close.

I hope the "booze" isnt a hot alcohol finish, but a crisp dry finish lol

And I apologize now IF any of you get a flat beer This was/is my attempt at using the beergun, and i didnt chill the bottles before bottling so they were bottling foamy, had to go back and fill/top off most of them. I made sure to use lots of C02 to help make sure they stayed carbonated, so this is my biggest worry about Day 17. So please let me know how the carbonation is

Flavours seem good, but we had no carb at all in ours. If it had a nice high carb, it would have been quite tasty.

My bottle is only half full, so I'm expecting carb issues

Mine was flat but I understand what you guys were shooting for based on the flavors I got and the description above. With the carb this one would be a hum dinger

Just got back from the port pub. I think this tastes like it is supposed to, and it's very good. Might even be special. Tastes a bit like something I paid a lot of money for in Stillwells once, in a bottle from Belgium. I think if you carbonated this, it would do very well.

Mine was flat too which makes it hard to comment on the aroma. I got some nice notes of pear and other fruity esters. It also has a nice sweet alcohol character. If this beer was carbonated properly the carbonic acid would probably have helped better balanced the beer. There were some higher alcohols which gave it a booziness and astringency but not enough to detract from the enjoyability. Like the other folks said, this was a good beer and given some carbonation this would be a better beer.

A big flat boozy banana, but it put a smile on my face...boozy is good.

Haven't tried it yet, but if its flat ill put mine in a PET with a carb cap if its flat. I'll update in a week or so!

Sipping on this now. Mine is flat as well. I was concerned about oxidation as the bottle was only 3/4 full but it doesn't seem to be an issue. With some carbonation this could be really good. I enjoy the pear after taste. Thanks boys!

Also next to nothing on the carbonation here (it did make a small sound when I cracked the top off). I like the taste enough just wish the carb was there to back it up.

Going to take a crack at beer gunning myself this weekend as I haven't had the time to keep up with bottling/conditioning and want some bottles to bring back to Cape Breton with me for the holiday visit.

Sorry peeps, I guess ill have to do more fill and check after X amount of days testing with the beer gun again to get it dial'd in.

I have another batch of this Belgian Gold fermenting, will have it kegged after xmas, so if you want a fresh glass, just stop on over!

On a plus note im glad the rest of the qualities were on key.

Dave I'm stopping by saturday what does your daughter take in her quadruple espresso? And short haired or long hair puppies?

Another dead flat one here and no pop when it opened. I'm a little ashamed to say I couldn't get more than a couple sips into it. I got a hint of some of the other flavors that people have mentioned above, but beyond the alcohol there was something solvent-y that I couldn't shake.

Mine was really off, though it likely had something to do with the unknown black floaty that came out of the bottle. Was also flat. Sadly didn't get to try it.
