First time I have tried this style. I read about it in my beer server’s course. It’s very interesting to try it. A hybrid between ale and lager, with an ale yeast used but fermented at lower temperatures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altbier" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It’s really very nice. I love the aroma too. It has to be perfectly to style.

Thanks Andrew. Did you win anything with this beer ...yet?

:cheers:

No, I haven't entered it. Until a week or two ago there was a fairly unpleasant aroma coming off of it. I thought it was sulfury, since it's often a problem with this yeast, but if that was the case it wouldn't have faded. It was something anyway.

Well done Andrew. I really enjoyed this today. Didn't pick up any unpleasant aroma on mine. Awesome pairing with my hot turkey sandwich :mmm:

ahh! Another advent beer I'm super jealous of not getting in on. My last alt used wlp029 to try to let the hops come through more than wlp036. Cheers !

Just finished this beer and enjoyed it. I got a smell off the beer and I don't know what it is. Tastes great! Thanks.

Mine had been in the basement, maybe in the 40s F for over a month lagering. :)

I really enjoyed this so I hope you have more...

Very aparent bitterness, high end of the style but I like it that way. Clean, and it went down easy. I would have kept drinking if it didn't run out.

Thanks,
-Rob

I haven't had a lot of exposure to this style besides trying to brew one once that didn't turn out well but this is what I imagined it should taste like. Great beer Andrew, I enjoy the nice bitterness with subtle malt flavors and brilliant copper color :cheers3:

Yes, really enjoyed this one as well. Great to have a beer with such a strong German hop flavour and aroma.

Am drinking this after the chocolate milk brown. This lived up to my expectations. I really enjoy a good alternative when done right. Could drink this all night.

Had the same here, could not pinpoint the smell, however the beer was great. Nice flavour, and just the right amount of bitter.

Really tasty brew Andrew. I took this to my brothers place and had it after dinner. I had forgotten my smartphone at my parents place and couldn't remember which style it was. Threw me for a loop trying to remember which it was.

Need to take another crack at this style as I wasn't that happy with my first try.
