Adevent #25 - "Outta towner winter browner" Milk Choc. Brown

Post by HappyHopper » Tue Nov 11, 2014 12:08 pm

I designed this beer last year but never got around to it. it was meant to be an imperial brown but i gained volume somewhere and diluted the gravity (i believe a miscalculation of both dead space and boil off), thats what you get for brewing once every 6 months! good news, i tasted the wort and its everything i could of hoped for, very excited.

currently brewing 3 gallon batches (god i need an upgrade)

0.15 kg chocolate malt
0.10 kg Brown malt

Merry Christmas to you Jonathan. This beer is very good and well made. I'm really enjoying it. We have some good brewers on here. Sorry about the uneven pour, never know, this one the carbonation is just right.

Thanks

A bit behind on my beers, trying to catch up today. I get some molasses type flavors from this one, must be a mix of the malts, coco and lactose.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Just finished this. Different brown for sure. Enjoyed it for what it was. Not overly familiar with lactose. But seemed to work

Played catchup tonight while my dad was over visiting.

Love the name, and the beer was great too.

Not sure how I missed this one but just found it in the back of my fridge. Caught a taste of esters in the first sip but not after that. Nice syrupy taste now. Quite good actually.
