I did not keep up on restocking the fridge. I was down grabbing the next few days to put in the fridge and manged to knock this one off the top shelf and it hit on its top and popped open!

It seemed to have decent carbonation on the floor! I salvaged what was left of the bottle and had that tonight warm and flat. Even then it was very tasty and not at all what I was expecting. I can only imagine how good it would have been cold and carbonated.

Mine was off Trevor unfortunately, it had some chunks of slimy stuff floating in it and tasted like cider. I'm sure this is a good one though. Wasn't meant to be for me :( I never had a saison before either :(

It was in a Samuel Adams Gold Snap bottle. If that helps with the mystery.

That's too bad. At least there are two more Saisons coming up, Mark.

Like the tequila with the worm in it. I might have had the special bottle and not realised. Not a good beer day for me today, not your fault. The conan yeast in my Christmas beer I brewed yesterday hasn't taken off yet and I'm getting edgy. It was approaching its sell by date.

For the boys drinking it at the meeting I'll take criticism in the following ways :

1) It's good

2) It's drinkable, but I don't ever want to see it again

3) Kill it, Kill it with fire

Not sure what I really think of this one. From the recipe I was expecting more flavour. Seems to be lacking yeast flavour that you would expect from a saison. Mine was also under carbed with no head...which probably didn't help. Not bad and not really great either. Interested to see what others thought.

I like it. It's fruity, spicy, and a bit tart, but in balance. I think to be in style as a saison it should probably be more hoppy and more bitter, but I like it this way. I think I taste some acetaldehyde as well, but it's possible that it's just esters I'm not tasting right. The clarity is excellent, and it's very drinkable.

I get a bit of spice from the yeast, but it's pretty subdued. More like a Belgian Pale Ale than a Saison.

Agree with Andrew that there's a bit of acetaldehyde in there. The carbonation in mine is pretty decent, but the head did dissipate pretty quickly.

Quite drinkable, this is going down fast.

Pours very clear, no head, light carbonation.
Definitely some acetaldehyde in there (green apple/cidery). Not getting much saison character from the yeast, but bit of spiciness in the aftertaste. Reminds me of some commercial Belgian pales.

Maybe it's not the perfect saison but it's a damn tasty pint, little under carbed and a little lacking in the typical saison style but it's a nice beer none the less

Eric & I sampled this...

Nicely carb'd, good head. Flavor was great, we got the orange but not a lot of peppercorn. Little bit of yeast funk (we like the funk).

Great beer, thanks for sharing

I was quite leery about this one - I haven't found too many 'pepper' beers that I have enjoyed. I enjoyed this one very much - the pepper was there, but subdued. It didn't taste like I was drinking pepper soda, like I feared.

A bit more head retention would have been nice for a saison and maybe a bit more Belgian yeast character, but I liked it. I would drink it again - I might even brew it myself... someday.

Read my comment again, and it sounded a bit like I didn't care for the beer.

I actually enjoyed it, it was just closer to a belgian pale ale than a saison. Planning to give that yeast a try in a belgian pale soon

Nice drinker. But as others have mentioned not super saison like in flavour. My second time drinking a brew with Belle Saison yeast. The other was an extract brewed Saison I threw together in the summer. Not sure I like this yeast all that much. Should giv the time another try to know for sure.

Decent carbonation but no lasting head. Not getting any pepper either but the orange is there.

All in all, a tasty and refreshing brew though.

Good carbonation and small bit of head didn't last. Crystal clear with a dry finish. I got a cider flavour and not allot of esters which I was expecting from the Saison yeast. Thanks for sharing.

I'm behind on my beers, this one had great color and carb but the head dissipated rather quick. An easy drinking beer
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Tried it last night. Like the others, more like a Belgian pale ale, got some of the orange character, I did get a little hint of the cider character as well, dunno what would cause that.
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere

I have also fell behind on my beer drinking, but trying to catch up watching the foozball today.

Mine is quite clear, carb level is fine and I am getting a lot of orange and very little pepper. The yeast is heavy in the aroma but not so much in the body, this beer has some tartness but is very drinkable and is disappearing quickly.....thanks for the brew.
