Lawn mower Beer

Post by Broob » Thu Mar 13, 2014 11:06 am

I'm putting together a summer lawn mower beer recipe.

Somewhere around - 71% 2 row, 23 % flaked corn and 6 % flaked rice
IBU around 20 and probably a dry yeast like S-05

Trying to come up with some hops - it won't be a lot so I'm open to anything that might work. Any help appreciated.

I wouldn't bother with the rice, just go all corn. You can go with just about anything. I've done this before, and you can put a surprising amount of late hops in there. Might have the recipe in that section.....

If it was me I'd get the whole 20 IBUs from late hopping with Galaxy. Did my weizen like that and loved it. Out of style for a weizen though.

I like noble hops in my beer for the masses, I usually use tettnanger as I get them quite cheap, but saaz and hallertauer are good as well

Fermenting: Oud bruin/Vienna Pekko SMaSH
On tap: Nelson dry hopped Berliner/ Scottish Heavy 70-/ NE IPA

I have a lawn mower fermenting that I brewed with Calypso. I'll be kegging it in 5 days, however not tapping it until I get the new Perlicks installed.
I don't recall my hop schedule, but they were a whopping 17%AA. I am thinking .5oz @ 60min, .5oz @ 10min, 1oz @1min. Was 20.3 IBU.
