I'm planning to brew a pale ale this weekend. I have some columbus and willamette kicking around from past brews and I picked up some simcoe today (which I've never brewed with). I'm looking for your thoughts on my hop schedule as well as on combining these hops in flavour and aroma additions. Thanks in advance!

Looks good, but I think I'd make sure I had 25-30 ibus from a 60 minute addition. I think those late addition ibus calculations are sketchy.

ok I'll think about moving some columbus to a 60 min addition. Thanks for the help!

Maybe move the columbus half ounce to 60 and the 1.5 ounce to 20 mins for flavor and a little more bitterness out of them. Looks yummy though

do you think 55-60 ibu's would be too much? Beersmith suggests a maximum of 45 ibu for an APA.

I don't think it'll be too much. Most of those IBU's are probably coming from the large amounts of late hops. It you have less than 45 IBU's between 60 and 30 mins you'll be fine.

ok so the late hop addition IBU's estimated by beersmith are generally considered high then? any experience with simcoe? how different from citra is it?

That recipe looks really good with the simcoe, you should be very happy with the results.
