This beer turned out extremely nice, made 2 different bitters around the same time with simpler grain and hop bills, and they tasted like bitter pond water in comparison. Will be submitting a fresh batch of this beer to the Picaroons Homebrewing Comp.

Marris Otter, Crystal 80, and Aromatic is what one us the Garrison Brew off for Ordinary Bitter back in the day. Sounds like you've got a great plan :cheers2: I love Aromatic in a Bitter, brings such a great tastes.

Recently added aromatic to a bitter as well. But I noticed that this recipe and Jeff's Strongbad both use CaraStan. I tried to sub Carastan for Caravienne, but I'm not sure I like its added sweetness.

Here is a pint of it, becoming one of my favourite beers. Have made it 3x in a row now, and always good. And at 3.5% you can justify having 3-4 on a weeknight :spilly:

I am now tossed up between making a RIS or this!

Out of curiosity, where did you find the Styrian Goldings? I do not see them listed at the places I normally purchase.

The other thing about a 3.5% beer, is that high gravity brewing becomes very attractive. I'm betting I could push 20 gallons of mild out of a ten gallon brew day. ;-)

Syrian goldings may be hard to come by, but for that style, there are lots of great substitutes.

Wow, good price for Euro SG. if I could get brewing more often, I'd grab a lb for some lagers.

I bought a lb of it from OBK for $9.99 on sale, great price, and it looks like it is still pretty cheap. I have also made this beer with challenger/fuggles, and it was also very good, although I think I prefer the Bramling Cross/Styrian combo
