Cluster's Last Stand
Here's my experimental cereal beer. The flaked corn will actually be Corn Flakes, or maybe a mix of Shreddies/Life/etc.

Looks good X.
I'd like to brew the Froot Looper when I get some space.

This will be the yeast for 5 gal. 1469 for the other.
Wyeast 2252-PC Rasenmäher Lager Yeast
Beer Styles: Light American Lager, Munich Helles, Vienna Lager, Classic American Pilsner
Profile: This versatile lager strain is an excellent choice for brewing your favorite low alcohol lawnmower beer. Fermentations at low temperatures will produce clean lagers that accentuate the malt character of the beer. At high temperatures this strain maintains much of the lager character, but will also yield a mild ester profile that compliments hop aromas and flavors.
Alc. Tolerance 9% ABV
Flocculation low
Attenuation 73-77%
Temp. Range 48-68°F (9-20°C)

Re: Cluster's Last Stand
Well, what a nightmare running this off. I should have known the cereal would degrade to mush. Super stuck mash. Essentially a turbid brew, had to do my vacuum lauter for the first running. But the wort tasted ok, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It was some ugly beer though, and zero head at this stage.

Very heavy layer of flour on the top of the mash.

Re: Cluster's Last Stand
Well, that goop settled down real well, to just over a gallon. So I'm looking at about 4.5 gallons in each carboy. I racked the lager off the trub at about 2/3 fermentation, and it's still a bit murky in the carboy. But the sample I bottle is very clear. I racked off the ale version when it finished, and it's dropping really nice and clear in the carboy. Very nice color. There is hope...

Drank the two bottles with ale yeast with Mark and Greg today, have one more with lager yeast for the Brewnosers meeting.

Re: Cluster's Last Stand
It wasn't bad at all. It's fairly dry (1.005), and it definitely has a cereal nose to it.

Re: Cluster's Last Stand
Just put the lagered version on tap yesterday. Really starting to grow on me. Shelley was quite impressed with this beer - would make a great summertime lawnmower beer I think. Very clear as well for a 'low floculating yeast'. Maybe the secondary helped clear it up...

Today. It's actually much clearer than the picture indicates.

I have the same problem. Picked up a dozen for pocket change at a fundraiser a while back. They are, however, holding me over while I populating my "good" glassware collection.mr x wrote:Fucking things won't break.![]()
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

I got a few of the mugs, they are the only bit of glassware that have survived my roommates dish washing skills. Actually the branding has wore off of this one.

Re: Cluster's Last Stand
it ain't about the glass, it's about what's in the glass and that son bitch looks tasty

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
