Another nicely carbed beer. Big Pillowy, lacy off-white head. Hazy burnt orange in the glass. Mild citrus hop aroma with some slight Belgian yeast phenols. Super dry finish may have made the bitterness more apparent. Enjoyed the citrus forward hops and as mentioned, would have liked a bit more punch from the dry hops.

Thanks Brad!

I'm enjoying this now! Gread head & lace, well carbed. The Ardennes fits in well, a decent amount of character that works here. It's seriously drinkable, it's almost gone as I'm typing this. Cheers.

I made the mistake of cracking this at a gathering and didn't have time to sit back and appreciate it. I totally missed the Belgian part of it; I found myselfnthinking, man this is a nice IPA!

Great beer Brad. I think we tried this at Know1's a few weeks back, but it didn't lose any of its flavour with it sitting in bottles. Really enjoyed it again. Thanks for the Share.

Glad you guys liked it. I will attempt this beer again , but this time less bitterness and more hop Aroma. PMakie, that was a tripel , but close enough :)

My partner and I both really enjoyed this. We picked up some bubblegum aromas, which was nice. Overall, a really good beer. Thanks for sharing.

Nice dry beer with a sharp hop bitterness and a touch of spice from the yeast. I’d love to try this fresh with maybe a bigger hit of hops. Anyway, tasty, went down fast, thanks for sharing!

Just catching up, great beer Brad! Like what the yeast brought to the table.

I apologize because I had to go deep on this since it’s out top selling beer at Serpent.

This beer is insanely close to our Eden in recipe at least. I’ve even brewed a version of Eden that’s closer to this one. We moved off of that recipe for the same problems that are in this beer. I found if I increased the complexity of the malt bill it detracted from the yeast and hops balance. The hopping rates all look fine and I think it was the slight oxidation that killed it a bit but the Vienna malt really acts to pull the beer down and there’s just nowhere for the contribution from the yeast to present itself. Belgian IPA’s are tough!

Your water profile looks fine although I tend to go a little higher with my gypsum addition. I know there’s a lot of experiments done on shorter boils with pilsner with promising results but I promise you you’ll make a better beer with a 90. I’ve done several shorter boils with pils and although surprisingly didn’t notice an increase in DMS there’s just always something missing.

It honestly looks like I wrote this recipe a few years ago. Very enjoyable reading down through it and seeing you take it in a similar place I did on my path towards getting this beer right. I’m still working on it to be honest.

Enjoyed it overall! Thanks!

Loved the carb and the malt and the yeast character on this one. Maybe it didn’t have a ton of hop flavor/aroma , but I don’t find that’s what I’m looking for in a Belgian IPA. Definitely going to have to check out Serpent’s to see about that.

Regardless, we’ll made beer that I enjoyed. Thanks!

That is some nice head! Very tasty, though not nearly as Belgian-y as I had expected...though I could taste some fruity esters a little lurking in the background. Still had some decent hop character, but I can imagine fresher would be even better. Thanks for thd great beer.Image
