Re: December 10 2021 Exchange
I’m going to apologize right now, I bottled off a couple for myself to try and I can tell you something happened from keg to bottle that I don’t like. I’ve bottled off this beer for beer ledge soccer but it’s only been in the bottle for a day or so for that. It seems there is an off flavour in these bottles that I can’t pin point but I know it gives a astringent “tang” to it.

No tang on mine. Other than the smoked malt taking away from the hop character , Its a great beer. Perfect carb , great head, nice malt character. I enjoyed it as soon as I got home from work.
Kegged - Cold IPA, NEIPA, Fieldberry Wheat, Dark Abbey Ale, Apple Pear Cider, American Lager, American Stout, Belgian Wit

Daughter and I had this one. I found a Belgian (ish) flavor to it.

Re: December 10 2021 Exchange
Hahaha glad I looked at the recipe earlier than later or else I’d have been giving probably unneeded advice on yeast health. The smoked malt obviously gives a phenolic thing that could come off as Belgian or stressed yeast but in my opinion it works. That said, I would like to try a more aggressively hopped version of this. I can understand wanting the smoke to shine through, but I’m an IPA I want more hop character. Regardless, an interesting beer for sure!
