December 15 - Gone Awrye - DIPA

Post by GCR » Thu Dec 10, 2020 10:52 pm

The title of this beer kinda speaks for itself... so many carefully laid plans this year got derailed (and my solo bottling efforts were nearly a disaster - but the beer turned out fine). Sorry again we couldn't get the 2 beers from Moncton to to you fine folks yet, but next time one of us goes to Halifax we'll bring em along.

6200 g     Pale
469 g       C-15
418 g       Wheat malt
364 g       Biscuit
354 g      Flaked Oats
239 g       Rye malt

8044 g   Total

22 l         mash
11 l         sparge

10 min mash out at 167

75 minute boil

50 g Nelson 11%               @ 75 min

11 g Nelson 11%               @ 15 min
38 g Sorachi Ace 11%      @ 15 min

28 g Cascade                    @ 5 min

36 g Vic Secret 20.6%     @ 0 min
40 g Cascade                    @ 0 min
42 g Columbus                  @ 0 min

115 g Cascade                   Dry Hop

I see two crows in the background. Is that trying to tell us something?

No, just a random area in the house to take the photo. Loves me some 2crows tho.

I love me some rye and this had a great rye flavour and was not too harsh. Great mix of hops, really worked. Hard to believe that it is 7% as I could easily put away a few of these. Thanks for the share!

Thanks Jeff. I am saving your beer to drink with my dad over the holidays.
