Mcgster that looks very much like the one I made last year.

Tim, Nash has solid advice there. - at 1.8kg (4lb) in a 5gal batch the raspberry definitely dominated. 1-1.5kg would be better to get more beer character. Maybe try to get a bit more body to the beer too, mine was a boring light wheat which is why I added the berries in the first place.
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere

I love the colors of fruit beers. Blueberry is awesome. Even watermelon has a nice hue.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

anyone ever add lactose to their Raspberry Cream ale?....I was thinking of adding some....maybe 4oz-8oz?
The idea sounds interesting...a creamy Raspberry vanilla cream ale (way out of style)

Kegging time, Poolside Raspberry Blonde. It's going to be good, tastes good already. Slightly tart and you can taste the beer as well as the raspberries, equally I would say.

I'll get on and make the raspberry wheat next.

I’ve only done raspberries once but it turned out really great. I blended the raspberries in a blender and left them for 2 days only.

My puree had all settled after 2 days without chilling. Got chilled later in the kegs.

No, it's been enhanced. I changed the title to Raspberry beer.

Good luck with the cream ale.

Raspberry beer is very inticing. The tart flavour, in my opinion, have the same sort of complementing effect as souring beer

Yes! I'm hooked for sure. Which reminds me, I have to stop drinking it soon, or I'll be done in tomorrow. Kathleen says raspberries have tartaric acid in them. I think that's what I'm digging. The main acid in them is citric, but tartaric acid has a very potent acidic/tart flavour.

Thanks Justin. That sounds really good, and very clever, but it is too close to melena, which is a medical word for stool with old blood in it. It is the most foul smelling thing on this earth (smells like rotting animals). Also a serious and life threatening condition. For anyone else who didn't know that, it would work though. Wouldn't be able to serve it in hospital social club I fear :(

Mark... That's exactly what I thought when I read that name out loud. Melena is a most vile smell. Smell it once, and you never forget. You can diagnose a patient just by walking in the room. :barf2:
