Clones of Mainstream beer

Post by pvanberk » Fri Sep 20, 2013 2:35 pm

I was wondering what receipts (or fb kits) people used when making beer for people who prefer mainstream beer like Keiths, Olands, etc. I'm not looking for exact clones of these but rather a simple and cheap way to please these people...

PS: I did a quick search of the forum, my apologies if this was already discussed and I overlooked it.

You could take the weird brewing methods out of this one and adapt it for your own brewing style. It’s the one I give to the punters and they all love it. It’s made Keiths drinkers not be able to drink Keiths again. I also love that one. It is very light in colour, which is half the battle.

According to a post in the thread posted above, probably everyone on here has one of these “drinkable” brews that they make. It would be interesting to see them.

60% 2-row
28% Flaked Corn
12% Instant Rice

Bitter to 15 or so IBUs with whatever you've got ( I like 1/2 Spalt Select and 1/2 styrian goldings)

Use US-05 or Nottingham

I ferment for 3 weeks and bottle or keg. If I keg I use Gelatin
Nova Prime Taproom
Tap 1: Festa Brew Scotch Ale
Tap 2:
"Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -
Quaintest thoughts - queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe
