I made a tiktok of this brew:
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMFxJ1yTJ/
I always get this weird kind of bubble gum taste when I use my fresh (dried) hops... not sure where that is coming from, cause it just smells divine and like regular hops when brewing. FML stands for fresh mystery lupulin, as I do not know what kind of hops they are.
I did mash hopping on this batch for the first time, but not sure I see any significant impact (aside from maybe helping with a faster sparge).
6696 g pale malt
455 g C40
450 g cookie malt
400 g oat flakes
235 g Carapils
22.5 l mash water
12 l sparge water
60 min mash @ 152 degrees
10 min mash out @ 158 degrees
60 min boil
20 min hop stand
97 g dried whole cone hops for mash hop
.5 oz cascade pellet hops first wort hop
.5 oz cascade @ 60 min
1 oz cascade @ 15 min
1 oz cascade for 20 min hop stand
112 g FML for hop stand (crushed with immersion blender)
Made a 1 litre starter with a fresh liquid packet of Escarpment Labs Thiol Libre yeast.
Bottled with 115 g dextrose for priming.
OG: 1.061
FG: 1.013
6.3% ABV

this developed nicely! a bit on the cloudy side, only started to detect hoppiness towards then when it warmed-up.it should be the other way around, eh? Very Belgiany-IPA'ish. also, if you can edit your Subject Line, you should add "DAY 19". ppl might not be as diligent as me to look for the Recipe each night.

The bubblegum is definitely there. I really like it! A beautiful base for your hops . Perfect carb, nice and smooth

Wasn't quite bubblegum for me, but def had some banana/Belgian notes. Really fruity, not to hoppy, beautifully amber colour. Really enjoyed this, thanks for sharing
On tap: Hopped Mead, ESB, Schwazbier
Coming up: Altbier
Fermenting: Maibock
Planned: NEIPA, NZ Pils, Oyster Stout

Thanks for the feedback. Can't believe I forgot the date! If there is a way to change it I couldn't figure it out!JayBab wrote:this developed nicely! a bit on the cloudy side, only started to detect hoppiness towards then when it warmed-up.it should be the other way around, eh? Thanks marko. It wasn't exactly what I was aiming for, but I'm happy it is still drinkable!marko wrote:The bubblegum is definitely there. I really like it! A beautiful base for your hops . Perfect carb, nice and smooth

Glad you enjoyed it, thanks! As noted, the belgian-y result was not planned, but I can roll with it! (Though if I use my fresh hops again I might just stick with a belgian strain).KB1138 wrote:Wasn't quite bubblegum for me, but def had some banana/Belgian notes.
