I'm head to Central America in three weeks (El Salvador, Honduras, & Guatemala). Has anyone been there and can suggest any decent beers? I'm guessing most will be light lagers/pils like most other southern destinations, but am not sure.

I just got back from El Salvador and Guatemala. It was an absolute fantastic trip........however the beer sucked ass! I did have one decent beer called Gallo from Guatemala, but pretty much the rest of them were absolutely tasteless. There was a couple that I even had to pour out as I just couldn't finish them. So to sum it up, awesome vacation but shitty beer!

That's too bad, Shane. My selection of beers in Florida was great. Probably not as good as it could have been, or as good as some places, but to me it was like a kid in a candy store. I drank a lot of Dogfish head, SNPA, and Yungeling. I brought back 14 different beers to try later.

You must have drunk all of the Floridian beer already, I don't see one in that haul.

Glad Propeller and Garrison have distribution down there now! ;)

Find some cucapa (http://www.cucapa.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and minerva (http://www.cervezaminerva.mx/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) made beers, they are great. There is also a great beer bar in playa de carmen called club cervesa, lots of craft beers from mexico, usa, and beyond.

Thanks, very helpful. Now I just have to hope that the resort I am at will have any of those since I can drink whatever they have for free.

That is a long shot at best. I would def recommend going to club de cervesa if you are close enough to cab it. Look them up on facebook here https://www.facebook.com/clubdelacerveza.mx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; the owner's name is miguel

They may carry it in liquor or grocery store near your resort or if you make good friends with the staff they may bring some in for you

Yes. We'll have to meet up and try to find some good beer to try.

For sure, I've been trying to some research and there should be at least few good pilsners to try, hopefully something more. I am mentally preparing myself to drink watery adjunct lagers for 8 days.

Here's where I'll want to try to get to if it's still open: http://thebeerbox.com/ They are supposed to have Mexican craft brews, but I've heard it's hit and miss as to their business hours. I'm sure we can sniff something out. :cheers3:

There was a Beer Box in PdC that I had contacted two years ago, very nice cats. It looks like the Cancun one is still open and active, will be worth visiting (or I believe they would make cate packages and taxi them to the resort for us). I see them on Facebook.
