Northern France
I'm headed to Wilmille next week (near Boulogne-sur-Mer) for work. Anyone know of a(some) good beer place(s) around the area? I'm not familiar with the area. I know Belgium is close by, I'll be hitting spots there on my drive back through to Brussels before flying back home at the end of the week. However, I know nothing about beers of northern France. Appreciate any suggestions.

I can offer no beer suggestions but have to ask. Are you going to have a chance to see Vimy Ridge? It's on my bucket list to fly into Belgium for the beer and visit Vimy.

Brasserie Thiriez - near the Belgian border if you are heading that way
Address: 22 Rue de Wormhout, 59470 Esquelbecq, France
seems to be quite a few spots to get craft beer in town including a leffe cafe. I just stuck "Boulogne-sur-Mer craft beer" into google maps.

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Thanks guys. I will not have time to go to Vimy Ridge this trip, but hope to get there sometime.

Probably too late, but I was in that region in November. Lot of very good Biere de Garde, some nice blanches but don't expect any good hoppy stuff.
Fermenting: Oud bruin/Vienna Pekko SMaSH
On tap: Nelson dry hopped Berliner/ Scottish Heavy 70-/ NE IPA

Re: Northern France
I'm back. No pics unfortunately, other than work stuff. Any restaurant I went to had a great selection of beers, mostly Belgian. Heading back there in 2 weeks and trying to get an appointment for a beer pickup from Westvleteren on my drive back through to Brussels. Fingers crossed.
