Awesome. This one's much closer to home, let's represent.
Also, I hate filling out the full recipe form, it's a lot of paper work to do if you're sending a bunch of entries.

That form is fucking stupid. Just allow packaged software forms for the people who use it.

In addition, none of the other competitions to date required it even though in the stock BJCP comp website it says to include it. I contacted the Vancouver and Edmonton clubs and they said it wasn't required. These guys explicitly say to use it.
ALES was the best. All I had to do was put the entries into the website and print off a small bottle id like "14C.741" that they provided and tape it to the bottle. That's basically what the stewards end up doing anyways so it makes it easier for everyone.

That would be nice, but I am used to doing out the forms which for me required me to change all my standard measurements to metric. Pain in the hole to do
but a lot of comps in the past required it. The ALES type form is much better. If they need it to complete a winning entry, then it you should be able to enter it electronically or by snail mail, but other than that, I don't see a need for them to know it.

You should still be able to use their form, but there should be options that reflect a modern world. I didn't use those dumbass Garrison forms when I used to enter, they got beersmith forms.

Hmm, might participate in this one, I guess the best way to find out if your beers are good enough for competitions is to participate.

I was just packing up an entry for this comp and I noticed that one of bottles has raised lettering on it....."Beer Without Boundaries". While it doesn't have any brand name on the bottle, I know that it's from Spearhead. Are these guys that picky that they would automatically disqualify it due to that raised lettering? Just curious.

Wondering about the same thing, also do you think I would get disqualified if I would send in 500 ml glass bottle?

I'd contact them directly; everybody seems to have different rules on this.

the rules wrote:5. Beer must be bottled in brown or green 284-355 ml glass beer bottles or 500 ml PET bottles that are clean and free from any identifying marks. If printed caps are used the print must be blacked out with an indelible marker. Wire swing-top bottles, clear glass bottles, bottles with raised glass lettering or bottles containing any other kind of brand name or distinguishing markings will be disqualified.

Yeah, I think that I might just do that! I know that their rules indicate no raised lettering, but was just wondering if they were actually that picky and would disqualify it. Seems a little silly if you ask me. I won't be able to enter the one that I was hoping to if that's the case.

Yeah it kinda sucks they're so picky. Who knows, maybe they will give you the go ahead if you contact them.

The rules are there so judges can't distinguish between any particular bottle and so can't favour any friends, if they were so inclined.

^ That makes sense Tony, thanks.
I did receive an email back from Jaf last night and he stated that I would not be disqualified if I sent a bottle with raised lettering.

They also gave my 500 ml glass bottles green light. Kelp Pale Ale (21A vegetable beer) and Maple Rye Blonde (23. Specialty beer) entered!

If only one bottle got broke that should only eliminate you from the Best of Show round in the event you get 1st place in your category. IIRC.
