February 22, 2021 Extreme Home Brew Competition

Post by GCR » Tue Dec 22, 2020 8:58 pm

With the logistical challenges I experienced with the Decembeer exchange this year (sorry again to everyone for not getting the Moncton entries to you), it might be difficult to participate for most of you but I wanted to share anyway. The site doesn't really say much about who can enter... if/when I get more deets I will let you know.

Tide and Boar Gastropub

Want to make the craziest beer ever, want to have a panel of judges taste it? Want to Have it brewed at Tire Shack Brewing? Want to have your winning beer on tap at various Moncton Bars?  if so put together the craziest beer you can come up, we will be judging on, taste, aroma, creativity of flavour, and beer name, all entries need to be dropped off at Tide and Boar Gastropub by February 22, 2021.  winner will be announced during Moncton Craft Beer Week,  to officially enter the competition please click here, and drop off at least two 64oz growlers of beer or the equivalent in bottles.

I just cut and pasted without looking closely... I figure they must mean 64 oz in total (maybe 2x32 oz gowlers?) - that seems to be the usual max that I've seen - the Garrison comp asks for 6 bottles anyway.

Dunno what the BJCP sitch is here either.

FYI - I checked with Chad from the brewery, and noted that feedback was that 4 litres was a lot... they changed it to the more typical 6 bottles, and added some more info:

...drop off 6 bottles of beer. Beer Will be judged by a panel of beer experts including bjcps, and professional brewers, and feedback will be provided.  Recipe must be provided with your entry.
