I entered a beer that I dropped off a month ago.

I have a RIS ready that I *could* enter but I dont know if that is an option - I just sent them an email to ask.

I also havent heard anything back about the t-shirt, and I dont see any updates on the website or Facebook - kinda almost get the impression that they are not overly well organized.

I dont think I will be able to make it to PEI that weekend.

Bottling up my stout likely tomorrow for this. Finished Carbing today, just trying a glass now. Tasting pretty good. Carb seems good.
Kegged: Maritime Fog (NEIPA), All Ryell'ed Up (Rye APA)
Fermenting: Seltzer Water
On deck: Something over the Holidays
In the hole: ...

Brewed a few beers with the intention of entering but lost the motivation somewhere along the way and never got around to bottling. Good luck everyone.

Took a couple of people before they had someone that knew about the comp when I dropped them off, when they did I asked them if it was 6 bottles since one question on the FAQ says "up to 6 355ml" and another says "at least 6 355ml" bottles which he said it was 6. He then went to ring me through at $180 and said it was $30 per bottle. Bit of confusion there! Haha

Eventually got it all cleared up, but a sort of funny experience nonetheless.

Ended up entering two categories. Hadn't planned specifically for it but happened to have two on hand that I felt were good contenders. Best of luck to all!
Kegged: El Dorado IPA, Rocketfuel 2.0, Wet Hopped Pale, Ryrish Red, Marzen, BN Exchange Dunkel, BN Exchange NEIPA, Lies Lies Lies - Citra <0.5% ale
Fermenting: NZ Pilsner with Enigma, Strawberry brett cider

The email I got on Saturday said "You’ll all receive individual emails next week with your score sheets and feedback." So... sometime this week hopefully :)

So scorecards are in and I'm not sure there's any improvement over last year. I have scores ranging from 10 to 33 on both my entries and a couple noted they were oxidized. I'd be interested how many of us had at least one oxidized comment on their scoresheets. They also have my name at the top in the same writing as the judging notes so they are clearly not blind tasting the beers. Poor judging again so not taking too much notice of the scores but I'll still enter again next year to try and snag a cash prize lol

I placed with scores ranging from 15 to 41

Certainly hard to gauge the feedback when they range from high praise to one scoresheet that noted "smells like javex and tastes like horse barn??" and one that just listed "Unpleasant." Worth a laugh at least!

I had several "oxidized" comments.

My range was 18 (someone with a red pen didn't like it very much lol) to 40 - most were in the mid to high 30's.

Fave comments "Colour a bit off putting" and "Unappealing murkiness".

New drinking game! Let's all get together and read our scoresheets aloud...every time you see oxidized have a beer! :drunk:

Mine were a complete shit show as well...my IPA had a range of 17 to 43. If nothing else at least there is some great entertainment value in these!

Rumor has it the same judges made their way through over 60 entries in one day.

Nope...Chalmers even emailed and offered up his excellent judging services and I don't believe they ever replied.

This is why I didn't enter this contest. Until they take the judging as serious as we take making our beer then i'm out. It's really embarrassing for them and disappointing for those who entered. I doubt anyone will find anything that will help them become a better brewer from the comments which is mostly what we all seek when entering these contests.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Embarrassing once again. 14 to 34 on one beer, 20.5 to 31 on the other. Completely contradictory comments, like pulling out of a grab bag. And yes, oxidized slipped it's way in again.

The sheets read like nothing but personal taste/bias, with exaggerated scoring .
