I forgot to post these but I did two beers with this malt. A rye bock and a saison. Both of the fermentors looked like this after about six weeks in. Weird clumps on top. Interestingly after the head on both beers dissipate a little the foam also has this shape.
Very interesting malt indeed.

Might look like an infection from the picture but it’s actually yeast/protein clumps.

Mine has this weird muddy, kinda pinky/orangey/brown hue going on. Tasty but not too attractive. I expected a much paler and clearer beer.

Mine is hazy as well. To be expected with no boil and a good size dry hop

I really have no basis for the draw of this comp, usually see quite a bit more interest on the Brewnosers site at least.

Good luck to all you lurky non posters if you’re out there! And to you Brathair dude!

How did your no boil beer turn out? I've been wanting to try one since discovering Lars Marius Garshol's blog through MTF.

That's where I got the idea lol. It turned out pretty clean imo...the boys gave it the thumbs up.
I'll wait for the judges feedback .

I didn’t get the names. The manager of cold brook noble grape got third. I scored a 34 with my French saison. ‘‘Twas a beautiful beer fresh but it cleaned up a little too much in cold conditioning and almost ended up more like a hef or Belgian witbier.

Next time I’m gonna use 3724 and finish it off with 3711 and probably switch out some of the Newdale for pils.
