For our purposes, I think 3 500ml bottles (or equivalent) would suffice...?

That can be arranged. Anyone know when the official tasting for the competition will be?

They probably don't have a schedule for Daniel's initial elimination. The final judging is on the day of the reception IIRC.

So is this going to be a "here's my beer what do you think?" kind of thing, or a blind tasting where we rate them and pick the one we think is best?

I thought we'd do a bit of rating on them. If Jeff was around, maybe we'd do some BJCP stuff at the same time for those guys who were interested in that course. I was hoping Nash would be available as well.

The calls for the final 4 usually go out the monday before hand (march 19)
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

So, would we like to do this as an afternoon event? We could start anytime, and possibly turn it into a BBQ, or go out as a group for a bite of food...

I'm good with either one, but it might be better to BBQ then relocate.

I think Jeff said he will be in Montreal that weekend. Still those of us who are interested in BJCP could get together and taste/discuss the beers in a blind tasting type environment. Everyone else could just taste them as they see fit or join into the discussion/tasting with the BJCP wanna-be's.

If Jeff is away, we should definitely try to make sure we can get Nash.

Get it in anyway! It would still have 2-3 weeks conditioning. Today is the deadline.

Was discussing this with Nash yesterday (Jeff is away on the 31st). We were thinking a bit of food would go nice with this. Maybe some freshly ground burgers of some sort on the grill, etc

I'm up for chipping in to get food or bringing something, but it has to be easy to transport across the province.

I'm getting to this late (although still long before the actual date...), but I'm interested in being part of the tasting. We bottled the rest of the keg into growlers.

It looks like the 24th is dead. It was my preferred choice due to the grain buy timing, but...

All i can do is direct you to find the pics of our fresh ground flame broiled burgers for encouragement...

If you want to reschedule because of the NCM order, I don't mind. I was hoping to hand off my entry to someone at the Garrison event the 22nd in case I can't make it into the city.

Let's try to get some number together here on how many people we shall have.

FYI, this is the burger menu, or a close facsimile:

Going to have to pass as I'll be down the weekend previous for the grain pickup.

So have we decided on a start time? Are we going right from the grain pick up, or later in the day?

Well, i will be there right after the pick up. But if people want to head to the rb or h&t for a couple before coming up to my place, that's fine.
