I used a 20g of sorachi ace in my whrilpool and 30g in as a dry hop addition and my IPL does have subtle dill kick to it

Re: Black Box Challenge
My American dark lager didn’t make it, although I can’t say as I’m completely surprised. It’s not my best work.
I went with Primus’s Pork Soda. They’re from San Francisco, like the yeast, so there’s that. Plus I went outside the style guidelines, and I can’t think of anyone more off style than Primus. I was thinking the brown album at first because brown lager, but I don’t have a copy of it. Also my little boy likes the Mr Kringle video where he’s dressed up like a pig.

I made it through with my schwarzbier, Hello Darkness. I was also wondering if anyone has heard from Henry, I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t.

Re: Black Box Challenge
Excellent choice.
See, when I stick my nose in the bag marked Columbus I get the dill bigtime. And the one marked Sorachi Ace is dank, which I associate with Columbus. Mayhaps I just psyched myself out

I think the sheets came out after the competition was done last year.

Me and Matt d'Entremont will be away this weekend. Would someone be able to take a picture of our BJCP sheets and email it to us?

Congrats to everyone who presented today, especially the winners. Seems like the judges had a difficult task. Good times!

Re: Black Box Challenge
Yeah I had a great time. First time doing this and presenting so was a little nervous but the judges and hosts made it really easy going. It was nice meeting you all and having beers as well! Congrats to the winner. Not sure if she is in here but I hear her beer was exceptional.

Re: Black Box Challenge
Was great to meet everyone on Sunday and to try all the excellent beers. I had a fun time once again getting to see this competition from the other side. Great job everyone

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
