As previously stated.
OK, I made this a poll. Let's hear it, pick your best day.

I can make any of the 4 dates, so I didn't answer the poll. Don't need my vote screwing it up for someone else.

As it is the early favourite, can anyone NOT make March 31?

You might as well put something down. The point is this, everyone can't make every day, so narrow it down to the people who prefer one day, and we go with that. Although some allowance will be made for people who are out of town.

Any of you guys heading to the US, maybe you could see if you could find any of the various rye ales out there. SN has a new one out that would be great to try with this tasting. Stuff from Terrapin, Bear Republic, and anything else.

BTW, this poll is running until February 13th. Then we'll take a look at the two best options (which are looking like the saturdays), and I think we'll try to give weight to out of town BNers to try to get their numbers maximized.

I'll be in the US in mid Feb and will see what I can find to bring back.

Ok, now that we are looking at the 24th and 31st, I shall leave this to the out-of-towners to work it out among yourselves as quickly as possible which date you would like.

I vote 31st. 2 trips into the city in 3 days would be hard to do (and my driver works a night shift the 24th). I'll do my best to send some of mine down if it ends up being the 24th (or something else comes up the 31st that I've forgotten about).

Andy, I can probably get my chauffeur to drive us. I will try to convince her as the date gets closer. She has exams starting the week after the 31st, so it might be a hard sell depending on the date.

I'd vote for the 31st as well. My little guy's 1st birthday is mid-month and it hasn't been decided which weekend we're doing the big shindig for that  so the 31st is likely safe for me.

Somehow missed this poll ... I am heading down for the event on March 22, but likely won't make another trip up the following weekend. Enjoy!

Can't be there. If I judge again, I won't want to know what BrewNosers beers are. I DID try the Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye, Terrapin Rye Pale Ale, and Blue Point Rastafa Rye Ale. Had the latter on tap, and really liked it a lot. The Sierra Nevada beer was also excellent, and probably a better beer, just not fresh draft. The Terrapin was clean, fairly clinical.

Oh, the homework I have to do to stay current.... :drunk:

We're talking March dates, so our tasting will be after the contest is over. I don't think it's a good idea to do it before hand.

Alright guys, I'd like to set a date by this Friday. You out-of-towners make a new thread if necessary to work it out.

Hopefully we can make this rather easy.

Out of towners: anyone opposed to March 31st?

I'll be in Halifax for the weekend of the event (March 22-25), so I'll be able to meet up with you guys/gals during that weekend. I won't be making a second trip the following weekend...

Well, we're 2-1 for the 31st for out-of-towners at this point. Do we make the call for the 31st since no one else has spoke up?

3-1 for the 31st. I didn't say anything previously cuz Jeff asked who was opposed to the 31st (which I am not)

31st is now the only date I can make, so that is great.
Bryan, would you be willing to bring a few bottles in for the tasting, and we can take a collection and send you home with some?

Ok, then we are set for the 31st. Next two steps are rounding up as much ryeipa as possible, and then a location and time. I might be able to do this at my place.

Sure... I actually am about ready to keg another batch of the Rye IPA, so I have plenty. How many is everyone bottling ?
