Propeller Brewing Company, Nova Scotia’s largest independently owned and operated brewery, is adding a spring beer to their seasonal rotation. The brewery has announced the release of Propeller Double IPA.

Propeller Double IPA is a full bodied, American style Double India Pale Ale that is brewed with premium Pacific Northwest hops and a rich blend of 2-row Pale and Crystal malts. Following fermentation it has been heavily dry hopped (a process that enhances the aroma without imparting bitterness in beer) giving this bold brew its big west coast nose. Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavour from start to finish that is balanced by sweet malt flavours. At 8.2% alcohol by volume and 85 IBUs, Propeller Double IPA is not for everyone… It is a TRUE hop bomb, for TRUE hopheads.

This brew is based on Propeller’s most popular One Hit Wonder limited release to date, 2xIPA. Propeller has tweaked this recipe from the original version “It was great to brew what was essentially a test batch.” Says Bobby Zacharias (Brewmaster at Propeller Brewing Company) “It gave us a chance to really get to know the beer and to listen to what our customers thought of it before releasing the final version”. John Allen (President of Propeller Brewing Company) explains “This is exactly what the One Hit Wonder Limited Release Series is all about – having fun, experimenting with styles, and finding something truly spectacular”.

Propeller Double IPA will be available March 22st at the Propeller Shop and soon after at select NSLC Locations and private retailers.

I like the graphic. You should make the hops scratch and sniff.

at select NSLC Locations
Please 'select' an NSLC location outside of HRM - preferably Amherst.

Another hand raised for Amherst. We're starting to see a lot more people this way that prefer craft beer, and more local variety is always a good thing.

Its actually a decent sized store - I found Propeller RIS there this year (which I've never seen here before).

I will make them aware of it though.

My guess is that NSLC does the selecting, not the brewer.

I would assume so as well, but a friendly request from the brewer to the NSLC can't hurt. :)

but if it shows up on the computer in the store, they can bring it in or request a transfer from another store. It also depends who at the store you are talking to.

Yes! That's true. Always best to talk to the store manager for special order products.

We have added a new topic called "Propeller Seasonal Listing (NSLC Stores)" that many of you may find helpful when searching for our seasonal brands at the NSLC.

When can this be expected at the Yarmouth NSLC? I went there yesterday and they don't seem to know anything about it.

same here in New Glasgow... the guy at the NSLC here keeps telling me it must be the RIS I'm looking for... Me: "NO MAN, the double IPA"... Him: "no bud we don't have that, never heard of it"

I feel like a crack addict

I feel your pain...i've stopped by the NSLC in Truro every this week...I may have to switch to the east end store so they don't make me for one of Truro's finest...lol. I saw on Propeller's facebook they are still waiting on the bottles at the moment...fingers crossed for end of week arrival!

The tweaks done since the One Hit Wonder version serve it well. Much happier with this hoppy beer.

Tried it last night. I don't know what the bettering hops are but I found the bitter hit too much. It balanced nicely when the first hit receded.

I will cellar the others I got for a wile.
