I was looking at a recipe for ginger ale in a recent copy of BYO last night wondering if I would do one.
Did your have any alcohol in it?

I don't think I'll be using this keg for much anymore...the bag of ginger and lemon I threw in there looked so nice...........
Somehow, I knew this was coming - last sentence:

i repaired one of my kegs that had a couple pin holes and no problems. When testing...i usually hook them up to my compressor and give them about 50psi or so. The easiest way i find to track pinholes is to fill them with water....and then hit them with pressure...then watch for puddles. If you only do the pressuring, yes you'll realize it don't hold pressure over time, but most will blame it on a poppet or o-ring (yes, speaking from experience

)

X,
Our deepest sympathies as well.

That was very tasty ginger beer at the last BN tasting.
It's been a long brew day for me as well, but at least the house is currently dry.

One of the newer kegs I brought back from PEI?
Sorry to hear about the loss (and the massive mess!).

I apologize on behalf of my province if that's the case.

Sorry to hear about the mess! I bet Matilda was thrilled!
You can phuck with the keg now and build something cool with it. Hop back? Shorty party keg?

I'm not sure what the pedigree on that keg is. It almost looks like a manufacturing defect from day one after I pulled back the bulged rubber chine on the bottom. I think the chine bonding had prevented the keg from blowing out under lower pressures, but I think it might have gone over 60 psi while I was carbing the GB. Might be a good hop back, or I may just strip it for parts....

Yeah, I've got jbweld too. Are you putting some on the inside and outside?

nope...just the outside.....clean the surface, scuff it up some( i used a die grinder..dremel, sandpaper would work) then coat it on and let it dry. It probably won't look the prettiest, but most likely will work after you're done.

It's the most likely most that worries me. I just went through that, lol.

just test it with water and about 50-70 psi....if no leaks you're good to go. having and air compressor for testing is great for this type of stuff as it cuts down on co2 consumption.

Yeah, I do that, but the bad keg tested fine as well, then it wasn't. After one disaster, I'm not sure I want to risk that happening again. Losing ginger beer is one thing - it was just an experiment - but losing real beer would cause me to burn the planet down...

Hey X, What did you end up doing? I woke up to a half a keg of Cream Ale on the floor. Same culprit, Pin hole under the chime.
Is JB Weld good for food applications?

I took it into work, and am going to have a touch of weld put onto it. Barring that, I would have tried the JB weld.
